Bill Clinton offered guest spot on 'Saturday Night Live'
Star Tribune

NEW YORK -- Former President Bill Clinton could be a host of ``Saturday Night Live'' this season. At least, that's what the folks at NBC are hoping.

TV Guide Online quotes anonymous sources saying that Clinton has been offered the gig if he wants it.

A decision is expected this week. ...

3. I would tend to agree, but(!)...
Humor can be a powerful tool to defuse, once and for all, the loaded aspects of the affair.

Imagine how great a skit with Clinton, Hillary and David Brock would be. ;-)

A booming economy without the starr show.

6. I suspect he'll do it.
He knows he can reach a particular audience that way. They are going to HAVE to deal with Monica, of course, and there'll have to be a skit. But probably something where Bill breaks the fourth wall.

7. I look forward to it
though it should be after the election only. In case there is some fau paux, we wouldn't want that taken out on Kerry.

8. This is a TERRIBLE idea!
Clinton should stay far away from SNL! He has way too much class to do this, IMO!

9. I agree
Bob Dole's Viagra commercials dememaned him, not that I cared. Limpdick loser.

But Bill should stay away from SNL. Be a statesman. He can do Letterman, Leno, Oprah or the Daily Show but SNL .... NO!

15. Sharpton, Gore, and Steve Forbes have all hosted
Why can't Clinton? I think it would be kind of fun to see him entertain. The ability to laugh at one's self is a rare quality these days.

16. Steve Forbes is a cheneying joke
Sharpton (much as I love him) is part comedian with his repartee and one line zingers, and Gore (much as I love him, too) was tone deaf politically.

Bill can poke fun at himself but in better ways and better venues.
He's a former President. You'll never see Jimmy Carter stoop to SNL. Bill will rise to senior statesman with an endearing, enduring legacy. People who once hated him have already come to respect and appreciate him more with each day. It will only get better for him but he needs to steer clear of the trash (aside from the opening political skits) that SNL has become. SNL would demean Bill.

11. Ugh. No way should he do this.
Former two-term presidents have no business hosting, or appearing, on comedy shows. Saturday Night Live is simply beneath Bill Clinton.

Not to mention the fact that the show has sucked for the last two years, anyway. He shouldn't touch that sinking ship with a ten-foot pole.

17. Totally agree, VJ
see my posts above.

To all those who say Bill should do it, I say would Jimmy Carter?
SNL has devolved to trash and it would demean Bill.

BIG DOG, just say NO!

21. That's a show that he could do.
Saturday Night Live is just too stupid, with few exceptions. Although I would like to see Bill Clinton and Darrel Hammond in the same skit, can you imagine President Clinton "wanting to toucha tha Mango" or being the new member of Gemini's twin?

I think he should compromise and do a guest appearance. He could show up and do a spot on weekend update.
