President Bush Receives 9/11 Report
Edited on Thu Jul-22-04 09:06 AM by maddezmom

WASHINGTON - President Bush (news - web sites) praised the recommendations in a new report Thursday on intelligence failures that led to Sept. 11, though his administration has reacted coolly towards a central proposal to establish a Cabinet-level national intelligence director.

Thomas H. Kean, Republican chairman, and Lee H. Hamilton, Democratic vice chairman, formally handed a copy of the independent commission's report in a Rose Garden ceremony. Bush had fought the creation of the panel, resisted the release of documents and battled against letting national security adviser Condoleezza Rice (news - web sites) address the panel. But he embraced its work Thursday.

"They've done a really good job of learning about our country, learning what went wrong prior to Sept. 11 and making very solid, sound recommendations about how to move forward," he said. "I assured them that where government needs to act, we will."

Kean praised Bush for allowing "unprecedented access to documents"

1. Giving Shrub a copy is useless.
He doesn't read his presidential daily briefs. How the hell is he going to read a 500+ report?

11. What's shocking is toady Condisleaza didn't!
Nobody's surprised Bu$h didn't. He just counts on others to do his homework for him, and hand him the notes right before the test.

4. I watched some of that....
and I swear to God it looked like a comedy sketch. I truly cannot believe no one cracked up while they were heaping praise on one another.

And just for the record, handing Bush* that report is like handing a copy of "War and Peace" to a child in kindergarten.

5. "learning what went wrong prior to Sept 11th?
Wasn't their job supposed to be to find out what went wrong ON SEPT 11th?

Of course, a hand picked commission didn't want look to closely at the WH and DOD and their lack of reaction on 9-11? Oh no, can't look at what happened ON SEPT 11th, then they might have had to blame someone for screwing everything up that day.

6. Let us not forget..............
that Bush never wanted this commission in the first place. He didn't think it was necessary. Now he's fawning all over them. The man is a disgrace.

9. On NPR this a.m.
they were bowing and scraping for bu$h and his wif... oops, toady... oops... NSA, referring only to reports indicating a possibility of planes being used as missiles in 1995 and 1996.

There were much more recent reports, and even a training exercise to deal with just such an attack.
