Bush supporters fire back with book praising president
http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/news/nation/9201000.htm?1c

AUSTIN, Texas - (KRT) - Don't look now but here comes another Bush book.

The promoters of "Thank You, President Bush" say the tome is designed to counter the burgeoning list of books criticizing the Texan in the White House.

"Conservatives are getting ready to fire back at the left's nonstop Bush bash," said Steven Phenix, a spokesman for the publisher, in an e-mail about the book. "This anthology supports the president's economic, domestic and foreign policies."

The book's contributors are a veritable who's who of Bush insiders. Among them: Vice-President Dick Cheney; Florida governor and presidential brother Jeb Bush; anti-tax activists Grover Norquist and Stephen Moore; and U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft.

Oh, puhleaze...

Let's see, Bush's brother, his VP, and his Attorney General are contributers? You mean, the people under attack are the ones saying they're doing a good job? Surprise, surprise.

These people have no shame, nor intellectual integrity.

Look for the dagger when it hits the list!

(note: best-seller lists mark books that have been bought in bulk with a "dagger" or other notation. You will see it on books by Coulter and the like. It means someone is "helping" the author along)

13. I imagine that the promoters of "Thank You, President Bush"
are members of the uppercru$t. The only people who can defend the grinning murderer's economic and domestic policies are the wealthy, and the only people who can defend his foreign policies are those with no family members spilling blood in Iraq.

Such desperate tomes are laughable, if so many trees didn't have to die for them.

"Once again in a moment of direst need, at a mortal fork in America's road, one single individual had come, like Ronald Reagan, to his country's rescue: George W. Bush."
- Dr. Jack Wheeler

http://www.worldaheadpublishing.com/index/index.shtml

It's the publisher's very first book! And waddaya know! The phrase "Thank you, President Bush" might already be copyrighted!

Thank you, President Bush
by Paulo Coelho
March 21, 2003

<snip>
Thank you for having achieved something that very few have so far managed to do in this century: the bringing together of millions of people on all continents to fight for the same idea, even though that idea is opposed to yours.
<snip>

Thank you for ignoring us, for marginalising all those who oppose your decision, because the future of the Earth belongs to the excluded.

Thank you, because, without you, we would not have realised our own ability to mobilise. It may serve no purpose this time, but it will doubtless be useful later on.

Now that there seems no way of silencing the drums of war, I would like to say, as an ancient European king said to an invader: ‘May your morning be a beautiful one, may the sun shine on your soldiers’ armour, for in the afternoon, I will defeat you.’

25. Those poor trees.
They could have died providing lumber for affordable housing, or pencils for inner-city schoolchildren, or even landscape timbers for my garden, but this? First 900 Americans had to die in vain in Iraq; now innocent trees have to die to produce trash without having been something useful first. When I see them at one of the nation's ten million-odd $1 stores this winter, I will weep for them.

39. here's more "luminaries" contributing to this bold book
luminaries is their word...

http://www.prnewswire.com/cgi-bin/stories.pl?ACCT=109&STORY=/www/story/07-21-2004/0002214467&EDATE=

<snip>

With an introduction written by the President's brother, Governor Jeb Bush, this landmark anthology features contributions from George Shultz, Phyllis Schlafly, James Dobson, Art Laffer, William Bennett, Edwin Meese III, Gov. Mike Huckabee, Stephen Moore, Grover Norquist and many other well-known figures. The book also includes excerpted speeches, as well as insights from several former Administration staffers.

"This is the first time that these luminaries have come together in one book and their consensus is unanimous: America needs to re-elect this President," says co-editor Rod D. Martin, founder and chairman of Vanguard PAC. "From his crucial tax cuts to the War on Terror to his impressive work supporting faith and family, George W. Bush has done an incredible job, but that record has been badly distorted by the legion of Bush-haters. This book sets the record straight."
