Schumer: Saudi Arabia still funding terrorists
NEW YORK (AP) _ Saudi leaders and members of the Saudi Arabian royal family continue to fund terrorist schools and groups in the United States, Sen. Charles Schumer said.

He called on the Bush administration to cut U.S. ties with the oil-rich kingdom.

"There's been much too close a relationship between Saudi royal family, the White House and big oil. We have to be much tougher with the Saudis," he said in an interview broadcast Sunday on WNBC-TV's "News Forum."

He criticized Saudi Deputy Interior Minister Prince Mohammed bin Nayaf for "talking favorably" about terrorism and for blaming suicide bombings in Riyadh earlier this year on a Zionist plot.

2. Schumer is an apologist and a lapdog for the Sharon regime
Schumer is now on a crusade to get the US on the path to war against Syria, as he did on the Iraq invasion for his AIPAC pals.

The Left warned of the consequences of the US removing Saddam, including the rise of an Islamic fundamentalist regime in Iraq. We were ignored!

Here is some food for thought about what is about to happen in Saudi Arabia, all thanks to the likes of Schumer and his ilk:

Saudis Facing Return of Radicals
Young Iraq Veterans Join Underground
By Craig Whitlock

Washington Post Foreign Service
Sunday, July 11, 2004; Page A01

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia -- An increasing number of Saudis who crossed the border into Iraq to fight the U.S.-led military occupation are returning home to plot attacks against the Saudi government and Western targets in the desert kingdom, according to Western counterterrorism officials and Saudis with ties to militant groups.

The Iraq veterans are serving as fresh recruits for an underground network in Saudi Arabia that, until recently, was led by an older generation of fighters that had trained in Afghanistan and was closely connected to al Qaeda and its founder, Saudi native Osama bin Laden. Many of those leaders have been killed or captured in recent months by Saudi security forces.

Today, the proclaimed new chief of the primary militant group in the kingdom is Saleh Awfi, 33, a Saudi who journeyed north last year to join Ansar al-Islam, an Islamic radical group in Iraq that the U.S. government has branded as a terrorist organization. Awfi stayed for a few months, barely surviving U.S. aerial bombardment, before deciding to return and take up arms in his home country, according to a former Saudi radical who met with Awfi last year.

Other Saudis are returning after spending time in newly established training camps across the Red Sea in remote parts of Sudan where central government influence is weak, said a European intelligence official whose government is advising Saudi officials on their domestic terrorist threat.

3. Please . . .

. . . don't try to blame Chuck Schumer for (a) the Iraq war and/or (b) the purported consequences thereof in Saudi Arabia. :eyes:

4. Schumer is nothing more than a neocon in sheep's clothes
Here is some of the neocon projects that Schumer is involved with, projects that will lead to more war and American deaths:

SAUDI ARABIA - NEW) The Saudi Arabia Accountability Act of 2003 (S. 1888). Introduced November 18th by Senator Specter (R-PA) and six cosponsors - Bayh (D-IN), Collins (R-ME), Graham (D-FL), Graham (R-SC), Schumer (D-NY), and Wyden (D-OR). The bill would require the President to certify that Saudi Arabia has met an extensive list of conditions related to fighting terror and cooperating with the United States. Under this legislation, failure of the President to make this certification would result in sanctions, including prohibiting the export of defense-related articles to Saudi Arabia and restricting the travel of Saudi diplomats to a 25-mile radius around the diplomatic mission where they serve. (Note: This legislation follows a "template" of sorts that appears to have developed, pioneered with the Arafat Accountability Act (107th Congress, HR 4693/S 2194) and followed up with the Syria Accountability Act (107th Congress, HR 4483/S 2215; 108th Congress HR 1828/S 982, see below for details)).

11. Schumer is a facist pig.
Do you remember Charles Schumer's bill H.R. 2580, which imposes a two to three year prison sentence for publicly engaging in "unseemly speculation" and publishing or transmitting by wire or electronic means "baseless conspiracy theories regarding the Federal government of the United States," after the Oklahoma City bombing?

18. Please
Are you trying to make Israel to be a bigger threat to the world than Saudi Arabia? The bill sounds quite reasonable. Are you saying the Saudis SHOULDN'T be held accountable in any way?

I'm not fond of Sharon's policies or the fact that Schumer still believes he was right voting for IWR, but Israel is a greater ally than the Saudis and I'm not surprised that in a state like NY, that he's strongly pro Israel.

14. Yes, Schumer is a whore/lap dog he does represent NY after all.
BUT!

I agree with him on this one. If there was any country that needed to be invaded after 9/11 it was Saudi Arabia. If there ever was a regime that needed changing its the House of Saud. A rare confluence between neo cons and me is this point.

16. What would happen when you put US troops in Medina and Mecca?
Edited on Sun Jul-11-04 09:41 PM by IndianaGreen
If you think you have a holy war now in Iraq with the Sunnis, imagine what it would be like to have the entire Islamic world against you.

17. They fund terrorism, they need to be toppled...
They are the real philisophical, financial and manpower force behind Al Queada, them and Pakistan.

Could be a UN thing, if only we had all that blanked out shit public. Mark my words, the facts will bear out that the House of Saud and Radical Wahabism formented in Saudi Arabia is behind 9/11 and blamming Osama or calling him a rougue is convenient BULL in order to stop the war that should have been.

THat's what the CIA translator row is about, that's what all the redaction is about. That and the Bush ties are the 2000 pound gorrilla in the living room.

Could be an international force, the saud connection would have to be made public. The world would back John Kerry and then put Bush and the Sauds in prison.

5. Saudi Arabia funds terrorists the same way Iraq did. Bush
talked to them about it and they said they were just helping the familes of the suicide bombers. The White House just said OK. But then turns around and invades Iraq.

8. Israel is the mother of all terrorists
Israel's crimes against the Palestinians is what gives birth to terrorism. Shall we mention the role Israel played in creating Hamas?

We are the ones that are stupid for supporting such a rogue and criminal state.
