Fahrenheit 9/11 Audience Diverse (despite RW claims to contrary)
From today's National Journal Hotline...

FAHRENHEIT 9/11: Most Movie Goers Are Kerry Fans, But The Audience Is Diverse

A Greenberg, Quinlan, Rosner Resarch (D) poll; conducted 6/28-7/1 for MoveOn PAC; surveyed 1,000 likely voters; margin of error +/- 3.0% (release, 7/7). * indicates a response of .5% or less.

Fahrenheit 9/11 And Vote Choice
All Saw Movie Intend to See
Kerry 44% 86% 68%
Bush 47 13 23
Nader 4 * 5
Undec. 5 * 5

Fahrenheit 9/11 And Party ID Fahrenheit 9/11 And Geography
All Dem Ind GOP Btlgd Red Blue
Saw movie 6% 11% 5% 2% Saw movie 35% 33% 32%
Intend to see 38 61 37 17 Intend to see 41 29 29

Fahrenheit 9/11 And Age

Fahrenheit 9/11 And Education

Or less College Graduate
Saw movie 18% 30% 51%
Intend to see 26 28 45

From polling memo: "Fahrenheit 9/11 is garnering wide attention nationally with almost half of all voters saying they have seen it (6 percent) or saying they intend to see it (38 percent). Just over half of voters say that they do not intend to see the movie. Potential moviegoers represent a broad and diverse slice of the electorate and are spread across the country including in the battleground states. Clearly, as the movie expands to more screens, the reach of the movie will grow" (release, 7/7).

1. What I find the most interesting...
Edited on Thu Jul-08-04 03:06 PM by slavkomae
is that out of the people who saw the movie, 86% will vote for Kerry; out of those who intend to see it, 68%. Some of the difference is probably due to the fact that the die-hards like us saw it within the first few days of its run, but some of it is definitely because the movie changed (or made up) some minds.

It would be interesting if there were a similar poll taken before the movie was released, for comparison with the present one. That way we'd have a better idea of the mind-changing effect.

2. Also, among those who have seen the movie, support for Nader
is close to zero, compared to those who plan to see it and those in the whole sample.

That implies that people who go into the movie supporting Nader come out with a decision not to vote for him.

That makes sense, since those supporting Nader seem to believe that Kerry and Bush are "equally bad." Maybe the movie changes their minds.

3. I dunno. Headline seems redundant.
I mean, when do "Republican claims to the contrary" ever pan out? The party is practically defined by its dishonesty.
