South Korean activists demand US troop pull-out
South Korean activists demand US troop pull-out

Hundreds of South Korean students have demonstrated outside the United States military headquarters in the capital, Seoul, calling for the expulsion of US troops.

The AFP news agency reports riot police formed a human barricade as about 600 students from the outlawed leftist campus group, Hanchongryon, gathered for the rally.

The protestors carried a banner accusing the US of heightening tension on the Korean Peninsula, and shouted slogans denouncing upcoming US-South Korean joint military exercises.

The rally coincided with a meeting between South Korea's prime minister, Koh Kun, and the US military commander, General Leon LaPorte, to discuss the intrusion last week by protestors onto a US live-fire training ground near Seoul. (snip/...)

2. LOL
I remember the last time the South Koreans made big noises about this and the * admin talked about actually doing it. THAT shut them up. They want to complain, but they like having the U.S. security umbrella.

3. And the WH agrees!!
They want our troops safely out of the way(but ready to spring back after the shooting stops). THEN they can instigate more than they are doing already and let the region wallow in its own blood.

No one calls the WH regime plan on its most blunt and obvious posture.

not compalin about the nuts in The White House who are actually discussing an invasion of Notrth Korea? an invasion which will result in the deaths of millions...
The US security umbrella has certainly done nothing to deflate tensions between the Koreas...

5. Tensions
Maybe those tensions can't easily be deflated. In the meantime, that security umbrella has brought peace and prosperity to South Korea for decades.

Again, if South Korea wants American troops gone, I am sure they would leave. Of course, they don't really.

7. Tensions were...
deflated during the Clinton era...anyways...
As for peace....
there isn't peace in korea...nothing was signed... no sides claimed an end to war...more like a break... and when you say "they" you seem to think that all Koreans want American troops to stay.. not true.. older Koreans who fought in the war or lived through the war are dying and retiring (they are Koreans who want American troops to stay)... young Koreans don't feel the same as the elders do... and those young Koreans are growing up... and will take over...

6. I think S.K. is right to want the US military out

with the bushgang in charge of the world, who in their right minds wants our military in their country?

the bushgang may try to destroy N.K. and take out S.K. in the process. Oops, so sorry, collateral damage.
