How India Funds Bush's Campaign (!)

NEW DELHI - There is more than one reason US President George W Bush should thank Indians, whether in the United States or India, as the buildup to elections in the US slated for November gathers steam. Indians are contributing handsomely to Bush's campaign funds while, until recently, there was a band of more than 100 dedicated call-center executives who were handling Bush's fundraising and vote-seeking campaign for the Republican Party from the outsourcing hubs of Noida and Gurgaon, which adjoin the national capital Delhi.

While the Internet provides fertile ground for spoofs on Bush's job being outsourced to India, his task is certainly being made a lot easier by Indians. Until recently, HCL eServe, the business process outsourcing (BPO) arm of Shiv Nadar-promoted HCL Technologies, handled Bush's nationwide fundraising campaign over the telephone.

HCL has been very reluctant to provide information about the project, but now that it is over it is more forthcoming, though strictly off the record. According to reports, for 14 months between May 16, 2002, and July 22, 2003, HCL eServe had more than 100 agents working in seven teams soliciting financial contributions for the Republican Party. A report that appeared in the Hindustan Times this Sunday says the task was to mobilize support for President Bush and solicit political contributions ranging between US$5 and $3,000 from legions of registered Republican voters. The report further adds that the voters' database was provided by the Republican National Committee (RNC), the party's premier political organization. The contract for running the campaigns was originally awarded by RNC to Washington-based Capital Communications Group, which provides consulting services to government and private clients for cultural and political networking. For cost and efficiency gains, the company outsourced the work to HCL Technologies, which in turn sent it offshore.

1. Let's see now.
George the super-patriot sends India our jobs. And takes money for his campaign from Indians. Good grief.

2. Campaign sinker
This is the kind of thing that could seriously hobble the BC04 campaign.

Can someone send this to the Kerry campaign or post it in the blog? No account here...

Bush economic report praises 'outsourcing' jobs

Tuesday, February 10, 2004

By Warren Vieth and Edwin Chen, Los Angeles Times

WASHINGTON -- The movement of U.S. factory jobs and white-collar
work to other countries is part of a positive transformation that will enrich the U.S. economy over time, even if it causes short-term pain and dislocation, the Bush administration said yesterday.

The embrace of foreign "outsourcing," an accelerating trend that has contributed to U.S. job losses in recent years and become an issue in the 2004 elections, is contained in the president's annual report to Congress on the health of the U.S. economy.

"Outsourcing is just a new way of doing international trade," said N. Gregory Mankiw, chairman of Bush's Council of Economic Advisors, which prepared the report. "More things are tradable than were tradable in the past. And that's a good thing."

5. Indians who donate to bush are fools...
who are enslaved to the idea that american gratification equals to progress for India. Money for bush is NOT money for america, is what these thickheaded idiots need to be told.

14. most India-Americans are democrats
most Indians living in USA have the same concerns as most other minorities....racism, immigration, jobs...etc.

Most Indians living in the USA do not earn 100K + like the handful of internet startup CEOs or physicians of Indian origin.

However, in the last few years, Indian Americans have moved from almost a 100% democrat voting record to maybe 70% democrat now.

7. dems too I'm afraid, all over the house and senate
There is the India Caucus in the house, over 1/3 of the house representatives is a member, both sides but more democrats.
Now we have friends
of India in the Senate, chairwoman Hilary Clinton.

It's positively disgusting, the PAC behind this is known (they even
publish their agenda and results in the India economic times)
to be a major political force in the firing Americans and replacing
them with cheaper foreign counter parts (outsourcing, use of H-1B,
L-1 Visas to bring foreigners here and fire the Americans who used
to hold the jobs).

Much more on our site (links below) and references, but Kerry also has met with India campaign contributors

(I also find it disgusting that Indians with US citizenship
can now purchase our congress and representatives to influence
legislation that's Pro India...this should be outright banned
as in yesterday and their oath of US citizenship revoked since it's violated by being pro another country at America's expense)

Substitute the name of a certain small aggressive country for "India"
in the above and you'll instantly be flamed for being anti-XXXXXXX ...

Double-standard? Oh yes, I think so ...

(On edit: ... and I don't mean the UK either ...)

16. Survey...
http://www.iacfpa.org/issues/c_run.doc

...More IAs Identify Themselves as Democrats Rather than Republicans.
The IA community does not strongly support any one party, although the plurality of IAs support Democrats. More respondents were Democrats (42%) than Republicans (13%) or independents/other (30%). When asked if respondents were “strong” or “not very strong” partisans, a majority of Democrats (53%) and Republicans (58%) were “not very strong”. Overall, there are more “strong” Democrats (19%) than “strong” Republicans (5%). Of those who were neither Democrats nor Republicans, more were “closer” to the Democratic Party (37%) than to the Republican Party (16%). There was a substantial number who were closer to neither party (24%)....

...We asked the respondents which candidate they would vote for if the presidential election were held today (September 23-28, 1996). Overwhelmingly, IAs chose Bill Clinton (66%), with Bob Dole (9%) and Ross Perot (3%) receiving little support...

...During a congressional campaign, IAs rated knowing a candidate’s stance on affirmative action in higher education (66%), immigration (54%), and American relations with India (50%) as “very important”. They considered welfare reform (48%) and affirmative action in federal contracting (26%) as “less important”...

18. Hillary Clinton 'truly regrets' Gandhi joke
http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/01/06/elec04.s.mo.farmer.clinton.ap/

ST. LOUIS, Missouri (AP) -- Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton apologized for joking that Mahatma Gandhi used to run a gas station in St. Louis, saying it was "a lame attempt at humor."

The New York Democrat made the remark at a fund-raiser Saturday. During an event here for Senate candidate Nancy Farmer, Clinton introduced a quote from Gandhi by saying, "He ran a gas station down in St. Louis."

interesting comments for the chairwoman

11. Remember the poll summaries
Showing women and blacks to be soundly for Kerry while whites were slightly for Bush...but Asians were soundly for Bush. I wonder if this is one clue for this seemingly strange result.

12. i know for a fact Indians in America prefer Bush
Edited on Wed May-19-04 06:36 AM by professor_pot
that is because most Hindu Indians in America are in love with Bush's anti-islam streak. I just shake my head on reports in Indian media of another fund raising drive by Indian Americans for bush.

today its islam, tomorrow, if the neo-cons are not checked, it will be us. bush is a psycho. nobody is safe. and that's something my fatcat countrymen enjoying the american dream dont seem to understand.
