2. I Thought...
I thought 20 thousand were injured.

And didn't a lot of injured include amputees?

4. No
About 20,000 have had to be "medically evacuated" at some time or another, for everything from pregnancy to staff infections to severe flus to mental illness. The article specifically states "wounded in combat."

3. Are the Casualty Counts Accurate?
Edited on Tue May-18-04 08:04 PM by coreystone
I have always been quite skeptical of the actual number of deaths we have suffered. It has always seemed that the numbers did not account for those who passed on after medical treatment et cetera. Does anyone have any thoughts of this?

5. No, they're not accurate! We're up to 805
If you count all deaths, hostile and otherwise:

6. Thank you, Don, for your enduring vigilance.
Thank you for providing a much-needed focus and calming point of reflection, week in, week out.

You're a star, Don. Thank you for carrying the burden of making sure we all know.

7. Extrapolating, it looks like 1000 dead by July 4th.
That should light up the night. What a clusterfuck. What a pure disaster. We are totally, totally fucked. Watch and see. Hate to say it, but "we told you so!" Some of us have enough experience at war to know the severe pitfalls. No one in the Bu$h Chickenhawk regime has a clue.

8. Hadn't heard any of the recent surge
...in casualties on the news lately, and I've been listening rather regularly. All I hear of are Iraqi body counts.

I listen to the tv news about twice a day and haven't heard of any American deaths whatsoever in the last three days.

9. Two American KIA's on 5/17, one on 5/16
It takes time for casualties to make it to the press.

Isn't it interesting that early in the war, the Bush administration said "We don't do body counts." Suddenly we're hearing about Iraqi insurgents killed in action. They're so desperate to find SOME progress in this war, they're starting to announce enemy body counts!

It's Vietnam all over again.
