EU plans to talk trade in Syria
The EU is to send a high-level trade delegation to Syria, despite the US decision to impose economic sanctions.

The top EU energy and transport official will go this weekend, in a bid to improve co-operation on exporting oil and gas to Europe, the EU said.

On Tuesday, the US imposed economic sanctions on Syria after long accusing it of supporting terror and failing to stop militants entering Iraq.

Syria is a member of the EU's Euro-Mediterranean Partnership - a trade, aid and cultural pact which includes a political and security dialogue.

2. Psst: the world doesn't need us
We can bluster all we want, but it may just help other economies.

If I were in any other country right now, I'd be making sure that all of our citizens and corporations that were doing business with the U.S. had backup plans.

4. Sounds like they're fed up with Georgie's lies
That is as close to a two fingered gesture as you'll get in diplomacy.

5. The EU has stated for some time that it prefers engagement
to conflict, and this is a predictable and well-deserved
"screw you" to the US for it's heavy handed meddling in
Middle Eastern affairs; which after all are far more pertinent
to the affairs of the EU than the USA, they being much closer
to the action in the Middle East.

7. Beyond our wicked leadership, the American people prefer engagement
over conflict, as well,...at least a safe majority do.

We have extremists in charge of the executive and legislative branches and they are f*ckin ruining our country.

10. We are witnessing the birth of a new economic superpower.
And our President is so completely up to his eyeballs in the "War on Terra," he can't even begin to address it.

The lasting legacy of how we conducted our War in Iraq may well be the marginalization of the US in the world economy. You can't expect other nations to import US goods on the one hand, while being smacked around diplomatically by Bush with the other.

I fear that in our President's eagerness to go it alone in an unnecessary preemptive war, he may have awakened a very different kind of sleeping giant.

12. China and Russia will make their move if it looks like the Chimp will be
elected in November. They could assist in pulling the rug out from under our neocon regime in short order.

Of course, should that happen, ALL Americans would suffer -- heavily. But I don't think the world powers will take nicely to another 4 years of the bush family evil empire. The bushgang mafia doesn't have the decency to try to sugar-coat their crimes.

14. If all Americans are made to suffer
for what we have allowed the Bush crime syndicate to do, then that is our just reward. If we have to suffer so that the world is made a better place, then so be it!
