It happened, it's out there - what's the problem with posting a link to it? The link has been posted several times on DU as it is anyway. If someone doesn't want to see it, by all means don't watch it. It's very graphic and disturbing. But those of us that have seen it aren't all a bunch of sick people who get their thrills from this sort of thing. Quite the contrary. I looked at the torture pics, when more come out I'll look at those too. I watched this, the Daniel Pearl video too. I watched 9/11 unfold and people jumping to their deaths out of the WTC as most people did. I've seen pictures of injured and killed babies in Iraq. For some people, seeing is believing. For others, like myself, there is no way to truly understand the brutality of all of this by sanitizing yourself from it.

note: this is not an endorsement to watch - in fact, if you choose to prepare yourself because it's horrifying - but rather to explain why some people have watched it.

My God, forgive me if I fail to see the importance in showing the graphic image of that poor man losing his life in that manner. I lost it just "reading" about the cruel manner in which he lost his young life. Just what is the benefit of showing this uncensored video?
And by the way, I am in no way in favor of censoring the images that depict the cruelty of this un-necessary war. I am a Marine Corps Veteran and I have never been opposed to anything in my entire life! I just don't understand the benefit of this particular video.
In closing...I have been a member of this site for a while now and I am in no way a "freeper" trying to post on the DU website, I truly need to know...

The value of seeing this video is that it might make this unjust war real for those who support it. I personally would like everyone who supports the war to watch it. We are so soft as a nation. We start a war then turn our heads when the images of war do not suit us. We like to view everything through the windshield of our car while we watch videos and listen to music. We have stirred up a hornets nest in the middle east and will suffer the consequences. That video is the reality of war, this is not Disney World.
