Howard Dean's campaign to send out personalized letters from fans

CONCORD, N.H. -- Personalized letters from fans of Howard Dean's presidential bid will be filling the mailboxes of New Hampshire voters next month.

The Democrat has asked supporters around the country to write to 40,000 New Hampshire residents urging them to consider the former Vermont governor and his candidacy.

"It's important for New Hampshire voters to hear about Governor Dean from fellow Americans who believe passionately in his campaign," said Dorie Clark, Dean's New Hampshire spokeswoman.

On Aug. 6, supporters will put pen to paper at 340 sessions organized through Meetup.com, which connects people with shared interests. The campaign collected names and addresses from voter registration records, then contacted voters to winnow the list to those who haven't committed to a candidate, Clark said.

3. I've gotten two personal letters!

I got a personalized thank you note and I even got a box of Vermont chocolates with a thank you note.

This week I received a postcard with a cute picture of Howard saying thanks for being on the team, which was probably a mass mailing to folks who contributed to the recent internet blitz.

I am sure Dean's signatures are stamps, but they are certainly the most personal thank yous I've ever gotten after many many campign contributions over the years. This is a very very well organized campaign, and I for one am impressed.

OK, I misread khephra's post, I thought it was talking about thank you letters from the Dean campaign which were personalized. (OK, I din't read it very carefully!).

But the fan letters are a great idea!! Like I said, great campaign, very organized and innovative.

has a candidate had the level of support that Dean enjoys. It resembles a cult, with every member willing to put both money and time forth to get Dean elected. I know I've never been so involved with any candidate before, I've never felt so passionately about a condidate before. Of course we've never had an ignorant monkey as president before. The legions are growing, I don't think anyone can stop the Dean juggernaut.
