Kerry Tells of Flying a Jet Over Israel
WASHINGTON (AP) - John Kerry wasn't kidding when he told the Anti-Defamation League that he had a different perspective on Israel. Probably no one else in the room has seen the country upside down from an Israeli Air Force jet.

Kerry said Monday that Tel Aviv kept denying his request to fly one of their planes, but that the colonel who was showing him around Israel during a 1991 visit not only got him into a trainer, but let him take the controls.

"I take it off, we go up into the sky, climb up, head down toward Aqaba," the senator said. "And I wanted to look at Aqaba, so I'm coming down over Aqaba, and I suddenly hear this voice on the intercom, and he says, 'Senator, you'd better turn faster, you're going over Egypt.'"

Kerry said the colonel then gave him permission to do "a little aerobatics" and that he made a loop at about 12,000 feet.

1. Nothing particularly unique here
I understand most U.S. leaders of national prominence have had guided tours of Israel, often sponsored by the Israeli government.

3. Perhaps...
But has Bush done this? You know, the TANG pilot? The "Mission Accomplished" guy? I don't think so. That's what's "unique" here. And I believe that's the point...

5. I assume you mean Bush isn't really "much of a pilot"
Which wouldn't surprise me. I take it Kerry must have a private license, as he was in the Navy during his military service, was he not?

6. * can't.
He didn't show up for his physical and no longer has a license. I've never heard of a pilot, and I've known some, so blithely give up their pilot's license. My dad got his on the day he qualified (age 16, I think), and still flies in his 80s.

8. Pilot License
I agree 100% Both my father and step father had to be forced to give up their wings, one after a heart attack the other after multiple strokes. It wasn't easy and my step father continued to try to get his license back up to last year and he's almost 70.

4. A powerful journey...an essential dream.....by J. Kerry
"In this difficult time we must again reaffirm we are enlisted for the duration - and reaffirm our belief that the cause of Israel must be the cause of America - and the cause of people of conscience everywhere."

9. Presidential hopeful Kerry woos Jews with Israel anecdotes
http://www.haaretzdaily.com/hasen/spages/423163.html

<snip>

"Democratic presidential candidate Senator John Kerry on Monday tried to convey to a major Jewish audience, at the annual convention of the Anti-Defamation League, his strong personal commitment to Israel and its security.

But instead of delivering a programmatic speech on the Middle East he decided to appeal to the emotions of the audience, and spoke at length about his first visit to the country, 20 years ago, when he traveled from north to south.

Along with the personal stories, he of course also emphasized that he would never pressure Israel, would not force it to negotiate with an unreliable partner, and would continue trying as president to advance the disengagement plan.

"Whatever the future of this particular plan, if elected president I will guarantee you that I will work continuously, never disengaging as this administration did for so long, in a way that will advance that cause."

12. How touching...
...unless you happen to be a Palestinian, your land illegally occupied by Israel and that occupation internationally condemned except by the nation whose politicians pay for it.

One hoped for better from Kerry; perhaps it was misplaced hope.

13. I don't believe aWol ever flew a jet solo. I know this in my bones!
Edited on Tue May-04-04 01:27 AM by dArKeR
From my reading, I haven't ever read anything where Junior has told a story about his flying experiences. I've never read a story about Chimpy's flight instructor telling a story about his flying. (Even if I did, I wouldn't believe it because I know in my heart aWol never fly solo. I can see in his evil eyes, his manner, his body language, his vocabulary, his drug history, his alcoholic history, his lies...

ps. I saw Kerry tell this story too. If Kerry falls behind in the polls it's because of the lying American Whore Media giving aWol positive air time and calling in liars such as AEI, Heritage... to tell their lying liar lies about Kerry.
