Kerry's message gets attention in Ohio

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) - At the dozen-seat Bean Counter Cafe, owner Jason Logero usually forbids any political talk to avoid the yelling. Then John Kerry came to town.

Logero tuned in live television coverage of the Democratic presidential candidate.

``I thought I'd make an exception,'' said Logero, 30, watching the screen as cameras captured Kerry's tour bus roll into this economically ailing Democratic stronghold last Tuesday. ``This is big news for Youngstown.''

Media coverage in several Ohio stops along Kerry's ``Jobs First Express'' bus tour last week and the response from some voters were a politician's dream.

3. Good. The campaign is effective in the states
then. It's the national media and pundits that are so biased. I'm glad his message is getting out there.

Thanks for posting this.

4. Wow
This is great news that his message is getting out there.

He just needs to hold Pennsylvania, and pick up OHio. That will clench it for him.

5. Youngstown, my hometown.
It used to be very prosperous, a steel city second only to Pittsburgh, lots of (immigrant) factory workers being paid a good wage and living decent lives. Those immigrants became American citizens and were proud of all they accomplished. My grandfather could recite the names of all our presidents and proudly displayed his citizenship papers to anyone who would look at them.

I returned about four years ago and it's a ghost town. Stores closed, steel mills deserted, homes for sale everywhere, downtown a disaster.

Youngstown NEEDS John Kerry.

If you can find 14 year old girls to do work for 17 cents an hour w/ no benefits, no safety restrcitions

Why would you put up with Unions OSHA child labor laws etc.

Until these exploiters are imprisoned and jailed, they will rob from dead corpses if they can get away with it.

Walden O'Dell promised to "do everything in his power to deliver the state of Ohio to Bush".
Walden O'Dell is the CEO of Diebold.
Diebold counts the votes in Ohio.

It may not matter how many votes we get in Ohio.

10. Warning: Kerry is being "out-organized" in Ohio
The Bush campaign already has five or ten full time staffers in the state and John Kerry has one. Youngstown is traditionally a Democratic voting town, the GOPs have trouble even winning one county wide seat in Mahoning or Trumbull counties. John Kerry should play well there, and if he wasn't it would be a disaster.

What is encouraging in this article is that Kerry is getting media coverage for his troubles. He and the mayors were on TV and in the newspapers.

Personally, I have yet to meet an Ohioan who voted for Al Gore who plans to vote for George Bush. I have met a few republicans who swear they will vote against Bush on account of the war, and the fact that he is an incompetent nincompoop.

We shall overcome.
