Clashes in Thailand's south kill over 100
Gangs of machete-wielding militants attack police and army posts, triggering pitched battles with security forces

BANGKOK - Thai security forces killed more than 100 gun and machete-wielding militants in bloody clashes yesterday that raged across predominantly-Muslim southern Thailand.

At least 30 of the militants died when the mayhem climaxed with a shootout in a mosque. The violence was triggered by the gangs when they stormed army and police posts before dawn....
