Keith Olbermann to host Current
election coverage — A truce has been called between Keith
Olbermann and Current TV

snipped - go to link for full story
---

“Keith has
agreed to host future special election
coverage on Current. We hope that this
will start after New Hampshire,” said a
spokesperson for Current.

Current
TV president David Bohrman sent an
internal memo insisting Olbermann had
been asked to headline its primary
coverage but declined. Olbermann, in a
statement to The Hollywood
Reporter countered, “I was not given a
legitimate opportunity to host under
acceptable condition. They know it and
we know it. Telling half the story is
wrong.”

Through THR ,
Olbermann issued a statement: “The studio lights might go
off, but the editorial illumination is
better than ever.” (On Dec. 30,
Olbermann tweeted that he’d informed
the writer of that piece that “anybody
who describes my disposition towards
Current as “disgruntled” is either
uninformed, working from a personal
agenda, wrong — or all of the above.”)

they should not squander the only reason most of us even watch Current. there is nothing wrong with wanting top production on the set, or having say over channel decisions involving the coverage of elections when you're the head of the news dept!

mod note: please leave in LBN since this is big news for progressives and the fact that GD threads do not appear in the latest & discussion pages, or in "my DU", at this time. thanks!

11. the coverage without him
was terrible. I had to switch to MSNBC, where they actually
know the significance of Dixon Notch. Granholm and Gore are
both boring.

I agree with Keith that his program is unwatchable with no
lights. It disturbs me, so I can only imagine how he feels.

14. You are absolutely right...Grandholm and Gore are a bore and a bust.
If anything brings the ratings down it will be those two.

8. I'd be thinking how little control Al has over his channel
if Keith walked. He's the sort that could easily form his own channel. And I don't really mind the black background. Just as long as they don't lose the light on his face like the one time.

have been noticing ever since the first, out little band is slowly dying out. I still come in here. But I've become way more active on Huffington Post than here. At least there if I do have a post removed, they don't tell me about it. Let alone Billo me.

Just was a bad year to split Dems up skinner...

9. His days at Current are numbered
At this point, any talent he has doesn't matter. I used to be a big fan, but even I am totally sick of how he keeps biting every hand that feeds him, up to and including banning fans on Twitter. Current hired him to draw in viewers, not alienating what few viewers they have. :(

All he cares about is feuding and those stupid Thurber stories. He's long past the age where he should grow up, put down the storybooks, log off his Twitter account, and quit whining every time he doesn't get his way.

When he screws up his Current gig, he will have become totally irrelevant. Pretty pathetic, how he lets his emotional issues get in the way of being a much-needed powerful voice of the left.

6. I'm glad they worked that out. Keith can do for Current what
he did for MSNBC. I used to check out Current when it first began, but after a while I just forgot about it. Bringing KO's to Current, got a whole new audience for them. I now love Vanguard, although I heard it may be going. I hope not, it really is a good show.

10. Sadly, history won't repeat itself
In the first place, KO was the only real voice of the left on TV, so he had a monopoly of sorts that drew left-leaning viewers to MSNBC back then.

Now, there's Ed, Rachel, Lawrence, Chris H. on MSNBC. Even on Current, they're getting new liberal talking heads like Cenk. Keith no longer has a monopoly. Which means that, if he keeps up his prima donna nonsense, Current will kick him to the curb just as MSNBC did.

It's sad watching someone self-destruct before our eyes.

Hi, Sabrina...Just discovered DU2 still exists. Don't like the new place much. Lost most of the good minds.
