Biden Visits Iraq to Thank Troops and Reshape Relations.

Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. arrived here on Tuesday aiming to inaugurate a new relationship between the United States and Iraq, after nearly a decade of war.

Coming just a few weeks before the last American combat troops are to scheduled to leave the country, Mr. Biden’s unannounced trip is laden with symbolism — a farewell to arms, but also a call for two countries linked by blood to begin dealing with one other in the normal language of diplomacy.

1. Oh Gawd, now McCain, LIEberman and Goober Graham will go!
The Three Amigos can't let a democrat upstage them in ANY theater of war. I say if the taxpayers pay for one more trip abroad for the Three Amigos for yet another political photo op with the troops, that those three assholes be issued a rifle and made to stay until the rest of the troops come home too.

I wish to hell somebody would retrain the republicans in Washington, ASAP! They could use a little esprit de corps and a brushing up on those oaths they made to uphold the Constitution and the American way. Their only mission has been to undermine the CiC in the midst of three unfunded wars.

2. Biden visits Iraq ahead of US troop departure
Source: AP

BAGHDAD (AP) — Vice President Joe Biden arrived on a surprise visit to Iraq late Tuesday in a trip designed to chart a new relationship between the two countries after all American forces have left the country in just over a month.

After nearly nine years of war, the U.S. now must navigate a future without American troops in Iraq. Iraq's vast oil resources, the massive U.S. Embassy presence here and Iraq's strategic location in the Middle East — next to Iran — ensure American interest will remain high in Iraq even after the troops are gone.
