Two Americans Missing After Nigerian Ambush
LAGOS (Reuters) - U.S. oil company ChevronTexaco said two American contractors were missing on Saturday after an armed ambush in Nigeria, but declined to confirm a statement by the military that said they had been killed.

The military said two foreign oil contractors and three soldiers were slain in the ambush in the oil-rich southern delta region on Friday evening.

"The two missing expats are Americans. We cannot confirm they are dead until we have credible information of that," said a company spokesman in Lagos, adding that the two men worked for an oil services company under contract to ChevronTexaco.

Another American, a ChevronTexaco employee, was wounded in the attack and was in a stable condition in hospital, he said.
