(Reuters) - Former U.S. Marine Scott Olsen, whose injury during clashes between Oakland police and protesters last month galvanized the Anti-Wall Street movement, has been released from the hospital, friends said on Friday.

"He is out of the hospital as of yesterday or today, thank goodness," Adele Carpenter, 29, told Reuters.

5. And mine is: Who is going to pay the massive medical bills that ensue from his
Oakland Police induced injury? It certainly shouldn't be Scott Olsen.

8. Iraq Vet Hurt in Occupy Protests Leaves Hospital
Source: Associated Press

Friends confirmed Sunday that Scott Olsen, the Iraq War veteran who suffered a serious head injury during a police raid on the Occupy Oakland encampment, has been released from the hospital.

Olsen suffered a skull fracture during tear gas filled clashes between police and demonstrators on Oct. 25.

The 24-year-old Marine Corps veteran had been attending Occupy protests in San Francisco and Oakland after working his day job as a security software engineer.

Dottie Guy of Iraq Veterans Against the War said Sunday Olsen was released last week. He can now read and write, but still has trouble talking, she added.
