US Heading for Another Election Fiasco as Reforms Fail
Published on Thursday, April 22, 2004 by the lndependent/UK
by Andrew Gumbel in Los Angeles

"The United States may be on the way to another Florida-style presidential election fiasco this year because legislation passed to fix the system has either failed to address the problems or has broken down because of missed deadlines and unmet funding targets.

Such is the conclusion of a damning new report by the US Commission on Civil Rights, a bipartisan government body which previously looked into the Florida mess and found alarming evidence of voter disenfranchisement among poor and minority groups, incorrectly compiled voter rolls and other glaring irregularities. "Many of the problems that the commission previously cautioned should be corrected yet prevail ... Unless the government acts now, many of those previously disenfranchised stand to be excluded again," the report said."

1. And there goes our Republic
which really is not a Democracy. The logic escapes me. Down with the Electoral College long live 'one man one vote' then we will regain our Democracy which really is NOT a Republic.

2. I'm sure it's just an accidental oversight.
That's the ticket.

3. Nothing new to me .. live in Florida.. nothing was ever restored!
This is why I think there will be no regime change come November :/ We had all better decide upfront what we will or won't be willing to do when the decision is final.

Someone stated before that * for 2004 the fix is in and in 2008 it will be Jebbie. I really do not doubt this.

4. What we have to know is,
are there enough of us to actually fight it after the second Bush coup takes place? How big a portion of the population will simply accept the loss of our Republic and go on as though nothing had changed? How big will the detention camps have to be, and how much blood will run in the streets?

We need to start planning now for the real underground that will have to grow and prosper if we are to save lives and, just maybe, save this Republic. If the coup becomes permanent in Nov. '04, we will never have the opportunity to restore our lives to anything approaching "normal".

6. I shudder over such thoughts,...
,..."The Bush Dynasty"!

:scared:

I wonder if the American people would even see that train coming right at them,...before it is too late.

9. I agree!
It is way too soon to throw in the towel on this.

I think what we sometimes forget is that we are usually of the vanguard with information and trends around here. How many times have we dissected things here and then months later it shows up in the mainstream media. Everyone is shocked and surprised as we shake our heads saying I knew that months ago.

We certainly don't have months to make this happen, though. Keep the pressure on and pick up the pace. I will NOT roll over and I will concede nothing to this cabal that is trying to steal our country out from under us.
