House GOP targets ‘job-destroying’ laws
Edited on Tue Aug-30-11 01:29 PM by alp227
Source: Associated Press

WASHINGTON - The House Republican agenda this fall will focus on repealing environmental and labor regulations that GOP lawmakers say are driving up the cost of doing business and discouraging employers from hiring workers.

House majority leader Eric Cantor, Republican of Virginia, said in a memo to his fellow Republicans that as soon as Congress returns to Washington next week he will start bringing up bills to repeal or restrict federal regulations.

The memo was released yesterday.

The GOP approach to job creation comes as President Obama prepares to announce after Labor Day a broad jobs package expected to include tax cuts, infrastructure projects, and help for the unemployed.

The Atlantic: "The GOP's Fall Jobs Agenda: Roll Back Regulations and Taxes": "In partisan language, Cantor's memo goes on to describe a schedule that includes tackling what he identifies as "10 job-destroying regulations," with more than one of these efforts being intended to highlight legislation from freshmen GOP House members."

1. I'd like a list from that shithead Cantor (sorry but he IS)
of all the jobs that businesses have created this year while their tax rates have been so low.

Name em, pal. Name the jobs created by your so called-job creators.
Cantor is a stain on decency.

19. The OP articles names several.
1. a bill preventing the National Labor Relations Board from restricting where an employer can locate in the United States. (To help Boeing, which was accused of moving to the South to punish workers for striking)

2. A bill to delay implementation of new Environmental Protection Agency emission and air pollution rules for utility plants

3. New EPA emission rules for boilers that he said could put 200,000 jobs at risk and similar regulations for cement and coal ash.

4. Repeal of a rule passed in 2005 and set to begin in 2013 requiring federal, state, and local government to withhold as taxes 3 percent of all government payments made to contractors in excess of $100 million.

(note: in 2005, we had a Republican President and ar Republican Congress

Also,

"Later in the year Republicans will take a look at regulations in the new health care law and are ready to take action to counter expected EPA rulemaking on ozone pollution, farm dust, and greenhouse gas."

P.S. I love your screen name.

2. They call anything that might cost a corporation money "job-destroying."
Whereas in fact, whatever money a corporation saves will not go to create jobs. We've already seen that: the big corporations are sitting on piles of cash and they aren't hiring anybody. If the money goes anywhere, it's paid to CEOs and shareholders.

3. Low taxes on the rich are 'job destroyers.' If taxes were higher, they would get off their asses...
...and restart the economy. Instead, they are just relying on the GOP to cut their expenses, so that they can make more money off of their money that's just sitting there doing nothing.

Crooks.

7. Anything Union
you can bet money on will be named by the GOP as a culprit against jobs. Union busting is tops on their jobs agenda. It would not surprise me if this guy makes a motion that all kids over the age of 12 have to get a job to help out at home. If the GOP really cared about jobs or anything else we would not be in this mess of Repub GWB's making.

Almost a dozen responses.... apparently no regrets about the impact to environmental safe guards?

That is most telling in this day and age.

10. My gawd...the shit that comes out of the mouths of these RushTurds and T.Haters is depressing.
It's like a bad SciFi movie...how America would be turned into a toxic wasteland...how the Robber Barrons, live above all the slime and diseased populace.

And people still vote for the likes of Pinhead Cantor?

Man it's depressing.

And this as well...read the end about the picture of the President:

16. Now we'll create jobs so corporate bosses can kill the employees like the 11 at BP
Edited on Tue Aug-30-11 03:17 PM by ShockediSay
Deepwater, the 29 at Massey Ferguson, and so they can rape the environment, our air, water and land, and so they can break our economy like the unregulated Wall Street Banksters.

Or is Cantor just trying to get attention away from the Repugs no taxes for the wealthy so they can cut our Social Security and Medicare/debt ceiling/lower our credit rating antics, all so those best able to pay taxes can pay off the Repugs and line their own pockets instead.

17. SIMPLE MESSAGING to counter this Right Wing Propaganda - Regulation Creates Jobs
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/08/30/1011856/-Counter-to-the-Republican-talking-point,-regulations-create-jobs

Despite the way Republicans have pounded the phrase "job-killing regulations" into the public consciousness, "job-creating regulations" would be more accurate ....

A new report by Northeast States for Coordinated Air Use Management (NESCAUM) delivers the latest blow to this popular talking point, demonstrating a direct correlation between environmental regulations and job growth.

YOU CAN HAVE YOUR OWN OPINIONS, BUT YOU CAN'T HAVE YOUR OWN FACTS.
