Henry Ridgwell | London

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange leaves the High Court after two judges deferred a decision over whether to allow Assange to be extradited to Sweden from Britain over allegations of sexual misconduct, in London, July 13, 2011

The founder of the WikiLeaks website Julian Assange was back in court Wednesday, fighting extradition to Sweden where he faces accusations of rape and sexual assault.

After a two-day hearing the WikiLeaks founder will have to wait even longer to find out if he will be extradited to Sweden. The two judges opted to defer their decision.

1. It's nearly a year, and Sweden has yet to charge him
with any crime. This is clearly a political game and I wouldn't be surprised, after all we're learning about how compromised every British institution has been for so long, if the judges are afraid to make a negative decision while the US is convening a ridiculous Grand Jury investigation into the possible indictment of a multiple award winning journalist. We will be the pariah of the world if that happens.

Sweden has no case, if they had they would have filed it. I wonder how much Karl Rove had to do with all of this.

After this long, they whole thing should be thrown out. Either charge him or drop this shameful political witch hunt.

2. Right on point Sabrina.
The Murdock scandal has shaken the very foundations of British credibility. There will be more revelations about that in months, perhaps years to come. The Murdock Empire has tentacles everywhere and Karl Rove is surely a loyalist. We cannot underestimate the power of the new media. That is why Wikileaks is so vital and such a profound threat to the corruptors of the world in every country.....maybe even Sweden.

5. I agree. It is vitally important to the people of the world
that Wikileaks survive, and Assange. Not so much to the governments whose secrets we already know so much more about now, thanks to them and I think, that has contributed to the revolt of the people, in the Arab World, and to a lesser extent, in Europe.

You are absolutely correct about the not underestimating the power of the new media. THEY never underestimated the power of the media, which explains the Global Capitalists use of the Murdoch Empire and the Moonie media. Without Murdoch and his ilk, they could never have gained the control they had over so many governments. Murdoch's Empire reached in almost every corner of the world. Something I did know until DUer Turborama posted some excellent research on all the countries into which his tentacles have reached.

It looks like the deal on Sky will not go through and the Brits seem ready to purge their country of his decades-long poisonous presence. Hopefully the same will happen here. I did read on a British Blog this week, that they believe he has to be completely destroyed or he will 'rise again'. The analogy used was a 'stake through the heart of that evil empire'. It couldn't happen to a nicer family! :-)

4. Its over,
Assange will now go straight to the Hague on breach of Human Rights - and he will win, you are not allowed to leave someone in indeterminate detention (he is under house arrest), nor prolong the sentence, it must be decided or dropped as it causes undue duress. Can't remember the exact determination right now - however it comes under cruel and unusual punishments. They can not simply have him NOT CHARGED with anything adn under house arrest and not make a decision - he will win.

Anyone know if the UK still has the privvy council ?
