Two killed in truck collision with Amtrak train

(Reuters) - Two people were killed and at least several others were injured on Friday when a tractor-trailer rig collided with an Amtrak train on a Nevada highway, Amtrak officials said.

The truck drove into the side of an Amtrak train carrying 204 passengers and 14 crew members at a rail crossing east of Reno at about 11:20 a.m. Pacific time, Amtrak said in a written statement.

An Amtrak spokeswoman said two people were confirmed killed in the accident and that others were injured.

It was not immediately clear how many people were hurt or the extent of their injuries, the spokeswoman said.

when i took AMTRAK to New Orleans. Didn't do anything, couldn't even feel it. Conductor said it happens all the time. Had to stop and wait a while so they could give a report...

Where this happned the tracks are really close to I 80 and run right along them with all kinds of rural crossings etc with no arms..

4. this truck was a dirt loader

the big 'V' type trailer that pours dirt out of the bottom (it was empty). It hit the 4th train car broadside. Trian caught on fire. There is nothing recognizable of the truck's cab. 3rd fatality reported.
