Former Michigan senator to face trial on child sex charges

Lansing— One of Michigan's top Republicans in the 1990s will go to trial on sex charges involving children.

Phil Arthurhultz this week waived his right to a hearing to determine if there is probable cause for trial, the Lansing State Journal reports. The former Republican state senator faces many charges in Lansing, including conspiracy to entice girls into sex acts and accosting teen boys for immoral purposes.

The 63-year-old Arthurhultz represented the Muskegon area from 1979-94, rising to Senate majority leader. He became chairman of the Michigan Liquor Control Commission but resigned in 1998 after questions were raised about how he spent public money.

A message seeking comment was left with his attorney.

LANSING - A former state senator accused of trying to entice children to engage in sexual acts will stand trial on six felony counts, court records show.

Phillip Arthurhultz, 63, of Lansing, waived his right to a preliminary hearing May 31, court records show. The hearing, initially scheduled for today in 54A District Court, would have determined if there was enough evidence for a trial.

Arthurhultz is charged with conspiracy to entice a 14-year-old girl and a 12-year-old girl to engage in sexual acts; bribing/intimidating/interfering with witnesses; committing/procuring gross indecency between males; and two counts of accosting two 15-year-old boys for immoral purposes.

The conspiracy counts are punishable by up to 10 years in prison. The accosting and bribery counts are four-year felonies. Committing/procuring gross indecency between males carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison.

2. Just one of many, many pedophiles in the RepubliCON sex, I mean political, party.
RepubliCONS just can't seem to keep their hands, and other body parts, off of the children. What a bunch of sickos.
