Gingrich explains personal ‘mistakes,’ rejects charges of racist undertones
Source: MSNBC

By Carrie Dann

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Sunday that voters are entitled to ask questions about the “mistakes” he has made in his personal life but said he’s confident that many social conservatives will back him in his 2012 presidential bid.

Gingrich, who has been married three times and has admitted to past extramarital affairs, said on NBC’s Meet the Press that Americans should look to the "strong marriage" he has with his current wife, Callista, and consider the “forgiveness” he sought from God for his personal transgressions.

“Every American has the right to ask these questions,” he said. “I have made mistakes in my life. I have had to go to God for forgiveness and to seek reconciliation. And I ask them to look at who I am today."

The former House Speaker said many conservative Republicans already back him despite the less squeaky-clean portions of his personal past.

7. Sounds fair to me.
Looking at him today, I see a race-baiting adulterer hypocrite flip-flopper with a penchant for not telling the truth and a proven track record of being horrible legislator who seems unable to keep his ethics (or lack thereof) in check.

Honest people would be so ashamed and embarrassed by this past, that they would go away and hide.

INSTEAD, scum like this in the GOBP, RushThug and T.HATERbagger cults wave $hit like this in America's face.

Come on America...Wake up and tell these creeps to go away.

14. And Jim Bakker, Ted Haggard, etc.
The fundies usually buy that "God has forgiven me," crap.

But, if Caribou Barbie stays out of the race, who does the religious right back in the primaries? Mitch Daniels has the better divorce story, his wife left him, married another man, then divorced him and came back to Mitch and their kids. That would make him some sort of saint in fundie eyes, but he's going to have to get some solid support from the rest of the Repuke base before the bible thumpers will come around.

16. When you claim that
the current president equates to "food stamps" what overtone does he expect will come out? From what I'm seeing and hearing it sounds like most gopers are sociopaths. Newt running away from Ryan's medicare proposals is a effing smoke screen. Gopers, especially the governors say what people want to hear them say and then do the total opposite.

It's beyond me how women, seniors, gays and minorities can vote for gopers.

19. The first question I would ask him is...
...this: Would you say that your relationship with Callista was one of those "personal mistakes"? If not, why not? Weren't you having an affair with her while you were still married to your second wife? How can that be a solid foundation for a relationship? If you need to ask God for forgiveness for your relationship with Callista, how does she deal with that fact?

(just to see him squirm)
