US 'not withholding food aid from North Korea'

US officials have denied an accusation from former President Jimmy Carter that the US is withholding food aid from North Korea.

A state department official said the North Korean government was responsible for the plight of its people.

US food aid was suspended two years ago after the North said it was not wanted.

North Korea has warned of severe food shortages this year as a result of the harsh winter. The UN has announced plans to distribute emergency food aid.

1. We should.
Yes, I know that their innocent citizens will suffer for the actions of their state. But food aid helps keep that state going. Withhold the food aid and let the state that caused it handle the problem Eventually they will have to become more peaceful or die. They can't mount an agressive war if they even the their army is starving.

3. That is not their fault...
it is the fault of...I don't know your story; therefore, I cannot appoint blame. Remember the sanctions on Iraq? The hundreds of thousands that died?????? I am sorry for your plight, mine is not much different; however, I would NEVER, EVER wish substandard nutrition on anyone!
