jsonline.comMadison - The Teaching Assistants' Association, a group of 2,800 graduate assistants at the University of Wsconsin - Madison, are organizing teach-outs and protests on Thursday.
Peter Rickman of the TAA said many members of the group have been camped out at the Capitol for days.
"We are also trying to work with faculty members and students to build support," Rickman said.
Like many other groups that have collective bargaining rights, Rickman's group is opposed to Gov. Scott Walker's budget-repair bill. He said his group wanted to do its part to help the state's dire budget problems.
"We are willing to negotiate in good faith to help solve the state's fiscal problems," Rickman said.
John Lucas, a UW-Madison spokesman, said the university was aware that some TAA members and students may be leaving class at 10 a.m. to go to the Capitol.
