Malaysia warns Muslims of Valentine's Day 'trap'
Source: BBC

Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said Monday's celebration of romantic love was "not suitable" for Muslims.

Several Malaysian states are planning to carry out checks on hotels to stop young couples having premarital sex.

The anti-Valentine's Day campaign by the country's Islamic authorities goes back to a fatwa issued in 2005.

2. I bet Bill Mahr is loving this one!
Come to think of it, usually whenever I decide to issue my fatwad on valentine's day there are no complaints from muslims or anyone else.

4. Because the best way to get any young person to do as you want, is to forbid it.
Somehow, the authoritarians just never seem to get it.

7. How sad is that?
Yes, it has become a commercialized holiday but I love it. There are so many small ways to show appreciation that are not expensive. It is a reminder to let people in your life know they are special.

Hubby and I are taking my 80 year old aunt out to dinner and spending the evening with her as she is still mourning my uncle who passed. It will be a fun evening.
