Hoenlein: ElBaradei a ‘stooge’ for Iran
Source: JPost

The director of the US Jewish foreign policy umbrella called Mohammed ElBaradei, the opposition leader emerging from the Egyptian ferment, a "stooge of Iran."

Malcolm Hoenlein, the executive vice-president of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, accused ElBaradei of covering up Iran's true nuclear weaponization capacities while he directed the International Atomic Energy Agency, the UN nuclear watchdog.

He is a stooge of Iran, and I don't use the term lightly," Hoenlein said in an online recorded interview with Yeshiva World News on the Egyptian crisis. "He fronted for them, he distorted the reports."

<snip>

He has emerged, since protests were launched last week, as a consensus candidate of various opposition groups for transitional leader.

1. Social Critic: Hoenlein a stooge for Israeli Right Wing
Infamous talking head "Social Critic" denounced Malcolm Hoenlein, the executive vice-president of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, as a stooge for the Israeli right wing. In a press conference attended by a Truthout stringer and his grandmother, Mr Critic said:

"Mr Hoenlein has a long record of issuing provocative statements to drive US policy as the Israeli right wing desires. He's like a puppet whose strings are pulled by Avigdor Lieberman. And we all know what Avigdor Lieberman is about".

Shrugging his shoulders, Mr Critic refused to take further questions, muttering something about having to go to the bathroom.

7. A Sunni Moslem, a stooge for a Shiite movement???
Edited on Mon Jan-31-11 01:03 PM by happyslug
That is like saying Hitler was Stalin's stooge. Yes, Stalin like the overthrow of the Wiemar Republic, but that last thing Stalin wanted was a Hitler in Charge of Germany,

The same with Mohammed ElBaradei (He is NO Hitler, first of all), the Iranian Government (and the Iranian Government is no Stalin) would like the overthrow of the present Egyptian Government, but that is all, no Shiite has ruled Egypt since the Crusades (and the Fall of the Fatima Rulers of Egypt). The Shiites have little if any support in Egypt and thus no reason for Iran to export revolution to Egypt EXCEPT under the concept that the enemy of my enemy is my friend (And even that concept has limitations, for example the US and USSR alliance against Hitler it was two people who hated each other but also hated a third party more and as long as that third party exists the alliance survived, but as soon as that third party is no more, the two enemies revert to being enemies).

Just pointing out this is just Israeli right wing propaganda. Iran has better places to send its support (Saudi Arabia being top of that list, as long with the rest of the Countries of the Persian Gulf). Iranian influence in Egypt is minor at best, and given the religious gulf between Sunni and Shiite Islam, tough for Iran to increase even to minor influence.

9. One report that El Baradei put out in Oct 2004 nearly made Kerry President
It was his report on the Al Qaaqaa ammo dump that the US failed to secure. I still can practially hear in my mind JK speaking of how the ammo from there was in the ieds maiming and killing "our kids". When that report was confirmed by embedded newsmen who saw it, it led to an up surge for Kerry - that was reversed by the OBL tape.

As to this "most influential Jewish leader" per wikipedia - I have never heard of him. He did gets lots of awards from Reagan and Bush.
