Woman, 61, helped subdue gunman

A business owner, she'd come to thank Rep. Gabrielle Giffords for supporting the economic stimulus bill. After a man opened fire, she snatched his ammunition magazine and helped hold him down.

When the gunshots started, Maisch dropped to the ground and watched the gunman, allegedly Jared Lee Loughner, shoot at people ahead of her in line, including the woman directly in front of her, who was shielding her teenage daughter.

When Loughner paused to reload, two men tackled him, Maisch said. She saw Loughner reach for another ammunition magazine with his left hand and she took it from him, then helped subdue him by kneeling on his ankles.

Law enforcement officials confirmed her role in the incident.
