2. Interesting...many had never known were coming up for signature
I like this one:

S. 3243, the “Anti-Border Corruption Act of 2010,” which requires the Department of Homeland Security to ensure that all applicants for law enforcement positions with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) receive polygraph examinations;

But what does this one mean?

S. 4036, which amends authorities of the National Credit Union Administration.

And, how will this be ultimately implemented?
( :scared: as a only a teacher can be...especially after having to live through so many down-sided Ed. laws)

H.R. 5116, the “America Creating Opportunities to Meaningfully Promote Excellence in Technology, Education, and Science (America COMPETES) Reauthorization Act of 2010,” which reauthorizes various programs intended to strengthen research and education in the United States related to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics;

Senate: http://thomas.loc.gov/home/bills_res.html

Look here --> http://democrats.senate.gov/calendar/2010-12.html on the Senator Calendar at December 16th and click on the blue link in the sentence that says: Passed S.4036 a bill to clarify the National Credit Union Administration authority to make stabilization fund expenditures without borrowing from the Treasury.

18. Thank Zod that applicants only have to receive the tests and that
the law says nothing about actually passing one. It's also possible to pass the poly completely with no deception indicated, but then fail the adjudication process based on the information developed.

It applies to applicants and does not address current employees - so all CBP personnel should be covered in about 30-40 years.

Here's what the law says:

S. 3243, the “Anti-Border Corruption Act of 2010

SEC. 3. REQUIREMENTS WITH RESPECT TO ADMINISTERING POLYGRAPH EXAMINATIONS TO LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL OF U.S. CUSTOMS AND BORDER PROTECTION.

The Secretary of Homeland Security shall ensure that--

(1) by not later than 2 years after the date of the enactment of this Act, all applicants for law enforcement positions with U.S. Customs and Border Protection receive polygraph examinations before being hired for such a position; and

(2) by not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, U.S. Customs and Border Protection initiates all periodic background reinvestigations for all law enforcement personnel of U.S. Customs and Border Protection that should receive periodic background reinvestigations pursuant to relevant policies of U.S. Customs and Border Protection in effect on the day before the date of the enactment of this Act.

6. Half of them seem to rename post offices somewhere.
And it appears they think Canada has a drug war going on.

12. I agree. There is no point in naming buildings after people.
How much does it cost to put the signs up? Waste of time and tax money.

14. I noticed that too...
also there is a bill in there that establishes a "northern border drug enforcement command". More of that ever so successful "war on drugs".

8. And how many did he read before he signed them into law?
So many of these bills can have clauses in them that have nothing to do with the purpose of the bill they are attached to? An example is the illegal internet gaming provisions included in a port security bill from after 9/11 - nobody would vote against the bill because they didn't want to look unpatriotic, but it's a crappy clause that shouldn't have been included.

20. CDBG helps.. but I am actually working poor
So I'm looking for some help with avoiding medical disability by accessing affordable medical treatment.
I am fully insured but cannot afford my co-payments.
That leave me my old "pre health insurance reform" choices=
1. Get what medical treatment I can afford until I am disabled by my illness
2. Get the treatment I need until the doctors force me into bankruptcy..

17. rewriting clean water act to change what lead free means in pipes and pipe fittings.
That sounds ominous to me.. Lead Free seems pretty self explanatory to me but I guess there always seem to be exceptions..
