Drudge Report owner sued by Righthaven
Source: Las Vegas Sun

Las Vegas copyright enforcement company Righthaven LLC on Wednesday filed its second copyright infringement lawsuit over Denver Post material, this time suing a big target: Drudge Report operator Matt Drudge.

The suit, filed in U.S. District Court for Nevada, charges a Nov. 18 Denver Post "illustration" called "Transportation Security Administration agents perform enhanced pat-downs" was posted without authorization the same day on the Drudge Report website as well as the drudgereportarchives.com site.

A court exhibit, however, indicates the illustration is actually a Denver Post photograph of a TSA officer patting down a passenger at Denver International Airport. Righthaven usually sues over unauthorized online postings of news stories, columns and editorials. Lately it has sued over alleged infringements involving graphics and, now, a photograph.

5. When the Rocky Mtn. News went belly up...
it gave DP the excuse to all but "throw in the towel" as well. Given its ownership, I'm not surprised as he's trying to destroy the LA Times similarly.

3. How evil that they are making me voice support for Drudge...
But, the DP is my home newspaper and they are WRONG to have enlisted this shyster group to attack "free use" of their material. I hope Drudge nails them (Righthaven)

8. so did Denver Post 'for hire'/buyout photog shoot the photo?
DP owns the rights or the are they exclusive rights to the photographer? RH are you just a harrassment tool--what do you really expect to collect from this small potatoes claim...?!

9. Righthaven sure gets around, doesn't it?
DU, and now Drudge? Obviously, they don't have any discrimination on who they sue, left or right, they don't have any scruples.

10. Righthaven will wind up getting nailed for frivolous lawsuits...
the entire operation is a scam, and people wonder why despise so many lawyers...:eyes:

Buying Copyrights, and then suing retroactively should be against the law, (if it isn't already). I am no Drudge fan, but this is merely a symptom of a deep problem. People and organizations that get sued by these clowns should counter-sue, and take every dime these bastards have.
