Rice urged to 'rise above principles'
Rice urged to 'rise above principles'
Her '60 Minutes' interview doesn't sway Republican on 9/11 panel

WASHINGTON - Two Sept. 11 commission members, a Republican and a Democrat, on Monday urged national security adviser Condoleezza Rice to reconsider her refusal to testify in public and under oath about President Bush's counterterrorism strategies.

1. Why can't they subpoena her?
I don't think she can claim executive privilege, can she? She's subject to the same laws as you and I, right?

2. The Rethugs would like nothing better than to have them subpoena her
Bush and his minions would fight it in the courts and there wouldn't be a final court decision until some time next year which would mean no 9/11 report until after then either.

3. I believe that the whole process of using a subpoena
would take longer with the small amount of time they have left to finish the report by July.

4. Is there an e-mail campaign on this?
Because I want to write to Condi and to other key investigatory figures, and voice my opinion as a US citizen that I would like some straight answers from her.

16. Try this...

UPDATE FOR: WORLDWIDE 9-11 PHONE, FAX, EMAIL CAMPAIGN

“Had I known that the enemy was going to use airplanes to kill on that fateful morning, I would have done everything in my power to protect the American people.” (George W. Bush, The White House Rose Garden, 5-17-2002)

PHILADELPHIA -- March 16, 2000 -- (TomFlocco.com) -- Citizen reports last week that House, Senate and 9-11 Commission offices have been deluged with phone calls, faxes and emails from Americans--and those from other countries who lost loved ones--demanding to have President Bush, National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice, Joint Chiefs Chairman General Richard Myers and other officials testify in public and under oath.

Citizens demanding to learn what the administration knew before the attacks, but also public explanations of curious actions during the attacks were bolstered by comments indicating that the panel is still listening to the court of public opinion regarding open testimony by officials at the very highest levels of government.

..... and the consequences.......

Kean and Hamilton now face the daunting task regarding whether the constitutional crisis sure to be created when Mr. Bush invokes presidential immunity and use immunity for himself and his surrogates in response to their subpoena, is worth the aggravation. To America and the world, it is. To the poor families, it is. And perhaps most of all, for the sake of History and Truth, it surely is.

6. If she ever did testify...
If she ever did testify, she would have to stick to her story (i.e., keep lying). That's why she doesn't want to testify. Anyway, nothing new would come out of her testimony.

17. WHICH story would she have to stick to? The one she "misspoke"
from, or the original as it stood before she "misspoke?" Or is there another, besides?

Contradicta Rice.

7. It is pure BULLSH*T - ShrubCo appointed this, not Congress
"Lehman countered that Rice would not be sacrificing that principle, known as executive privilege, because the panel, which was appointed by the president, is "not an arm of the Congress."

This is not the same as being called to testify in front of Congress - they are saying Seperation of Powers and the media is picking up the talking point, but the EXECUTIVE branch put together this panel - BushCo won't let her testify and they are trying to spin it.

Everyone needs to keep repeating this, so the focus doesn't get shifted.

It's BUSH's hearing, not Congress!

13. I can't, for the life of me, imagine...
...why anyone would go on record saying that they would be willing to testify BUT NOT UNDER OATH. I'd sooner cut out my tongue than say that. Could anything make you look more guilty and secretive?
