A Fit Kerry Dogged by Medical Questions
Elective Shoulder Surgery Is Latest Setback for Candidate
By Jim VandeHei
Washington Post Staff Writer
Monday, March 29, 2004; Page A07

ST. LOUIS, March 28 -- Sen. John F. Kerry, by most measures an unusually fit 60-year-old, has spent key parts of his presidential campaign battling ailments ranging from prostate cancer to a stubborn cough and cold.

Kerry frequently complains to reporters of a stiff right shoulder or allergies that leave his voice raspy and sore. For much of this year, Kerry has curtailed speaking and sipped hot lemon tea to nurse a voice strained by hacking and yakking. In mid-February, he described the ailment to reporters as a "chest thing" and griped about its persistence.

On Wednesday, Kerry will undergo elective shoulder surgery for a slight tear, marking the second time the Democratic candidate has missed time on the hustings for an operation. In 2003, shortly after announcing his campaign, Kerry had his prostate removed to cure early-stage cancer. This week, he will be in Boston for at least four days....

***

A St. Louis TV reporter's first question to Kerry after Wednesday's surgery was announced was whether the candidate had a "Cheney problem," a reference to health questions that have dogged the vice president as a result of his heart condition. Kerry brushed off the inquiry with a simple "no," and declared, "I'm healthy." Indeed, based on Kerry's partial medical records, which were released last year, the Massachusetts senator appears to be in fine shape. Sunday morning at Chris' Pancakes and Dining, three patrons commented about how Kerry looks better in person than he does on television. Yet one man commented, "You need a little flesh on." Kerry agreed and said, "I know. I'm working on it."

(The article states that Kerry's physician will release "an updated summary of the candidate's health record" today, and that a Mass. General physician will brief reporters on the candidate's shoulder surgery.)

4. The most exercise Cheney has gotten in the last few years is when he...
...worked on that document that discussed the need for "another Pearl Harbor".

2. But in all fairness ...
... Kerry doesn't have the same medical problem that Bush has.

I refer to the massive tumor between his ears, which surgeons are loath to treat for fear of releasing billions of spores of alien hellspawn.

6. Reagan.................
had body parts removed weekly during his stay at the White House. I remember him always being treated for some type of malady.
Now, all of the sudden it's an issue that we are supposed to consider before electing a President. Vice President Crashcart didn't seem to have a pronlem being *selected* to office, I don't believe Kerry is even close to the ill health Cheney enjoys.

8. Yeah, like Leon Trotsky was pursued by Stalinists with icepicks
The Busheviks are so much the inheritors of the Bolsheviks and the Nazis, basic economic policy and overt racism aside.

12. bush* was hammered as a nazi by callers on C-span today....
when the moderator and ONE reTHUGlican bush*-worshiper objected, another caller got in and brought up the KILLING OF TWO REPORTERS AND the shutting down of an Iraq newspaper by American troops sent by bush*....

it made me pay attention: KILLING two reporters and shutting down a newspaper....and then bush* claims that is bringing Democracy to Iraq....

and all bush* policies in Iraq could easily be done here in America....

hitler pre-emptively attacked Poland to seize Poland's coal and steel mills....Poland is also where most of the Jewish KILLINGS took place, not in Germany....the concentration camps worked people to death....cheap labor was the main purpose....

throughout....in Germany, life was mostly going on like nothing had happened....the German people were doing nothing to stop hitler and most turned their backs or walked away from the horrors....just like America today....

bush* will not give up his raw power easily...

14. Is it getting close to full circle yet?
I keep on using this as a launch point, but if someone wants to start a new one continue on this point, I am all game. I am sure many could contribute to it, so without further ado

It's time for another Bush/Nazis thread

9. Elective shoulder surgery is "dogged by medical questions'?
Such bullshit. A small muscle tear in the shoulder, some allergy problems and prostate surgery is cause for questioning Kerry as to if he has a "Cheney problem"? Cheney had what - 2 or 3 heart attacks? Some of the media needs to get a grip.

11. Kerry has a 'cough and a cold' and it makes the WP, page A7
"For much of this year, Kerry has curtailed speaking and sipped hot lemon tea to nurse a voice strained by hacking and yakking."

Holy smokes !....Kerry was EVERY DAY giving major speeches to 3 or 4 different groups...from December through February, Kerry participated in 150 debates NATION-WIDE....

and this is all the garbage that the WP can dig up on Kerry...

guess this bush* attack will be like the attack on Al Gore....Al Gore 'sighed'....so that 'sigh' became the more horrible thing...
these bushies never ever want to talk about the REAL ISSUES that America demands answers to: war, peace, education, medical care, Social Security...JOBS !!!

13. Remember Clinton?
He was constantly fighting hoarseness and allergies? Lost his voice so many times. Unbelievable.. how they do this to Kerry. Bush has had lesions removed from his face repeatedly, passed out watching t.v. and eating pretzels, falls over more than Chevy Chase doing Gerald Ford.

15. At the grocery check-out aisle this a.m.
there was a tabloid (The Globe?) with a terrible pic of Kerry and the headline "Will Sex Disease Scandal Prevent Presidency?"(paraphrasing). Of course, right next to it was a country music magazine with a pic of the smiling chimp next to George Strait. :puke:
