1. Or not.
Seems that the story shopped by a Romanoff staffer is being disputed by people who were actually there:

How is the Times article wrong? Try 18 ways
Posted by Jill Conrad Aug 6th, 2010.
Editor’s note: Jill Conrad was a member of the Denver school board from 2005-09.

I’m all for raising important questions (as I and other board members did in 2008) about major financial and other policy decisions. What disappoints me are the ways in which the facts have been intentionally distorted in many of the blogs and articles I have read on the subject in the last several months. Despite the great reputation (and my own respect for the NYT), I am shocked by the lack of attention to detail and contextual information in today’s Gretchen Morgenson article. Here is my take…and an account of at least 18 factual errors in the article…

2. Bennet should withdraw from the race
Colorado Democratic Party's rank and file strongly supports Romanoff.

Romanoff beat Bennet 60 - 40 percent at the state assembly.

4. Yeppers
In my travels around the state I found Billboard signs for all the republicans, a handful of yard signs for bennet and Loads and loads of yard signs for Romanoff.

since the Mcinnis plagiarism scandal broke and maes bike (comme plot) paranoia broke... I have noticed some of those republican billboard signs came down too.

15. I've seen that one too many times.
He seems to be fond of putting his billboards up in the poorest neighborhoods in the metro area.

6. Agreed. He should have agreed to NOT to run after he was appointed
The circumstance around Bennet's appointment is very suspicious.

8. Got a message from "Clean Water Action" urging me to vote for Bennett
If it wasn't a message, I'd have told them I already voted for Romanoff.

9. Attempted deflection?
Romanoff is hoping that this will cause voters to forget his flagrant dishonesty about taking post-primary PAC money. He has "promised to ask" (interesting phrase, that) the DSCC to remove any PAC money before sending cash his way; Romanoff knows full well that there is no way to make that separation. As one former Romanoff supporter noted, "That's like promising to eat only the healthy ingredients in a cookie that's already baked."

13. No, there's more...
"Mr. Romanoff and I discussed the necessity of Democrats running a clean campaign. He said he understood then, as I did, that negative campaigning suppresses the vote, disempowers the electorate, and divides the political party. He understood all of those factors could lead to a loss in November, and may have long-term damaging effects for the Democratic party in CO. He promised me he would stick to the facts and to policy differences, and would not attack Senator Bennet personally, or use slander.

The evidence is mounting more and more every day, however, that Andrew Romanoff lost his integrity along the way. Don't trust me. Take a look at what major newspapers and television stations across CO have said ..."

14. yeah, that's the attack on Romanoff
that, somehow, bringing up anything that puts Bennet in a bad light is "negative" campaigning. I guess Bennet thought he was going to be gifted this nomination, sort of the same way he was gifted the office in the first place.

Am I supposed to be swayed by an article from a self avowed Bennet supporter? Especially when that supporter trots out the same tired garbage regarding Romanoff that the Bennet campaign has been using since day one - "Romanoff has lost his integrity", blah, blah, blah... the attacks on Romanoff by the Bennet camp have been very personal all along - so I don't want to hear it.

And really - "the major newspapers and television stations across CO have said" - who cares what they've said - they are in the pocket of the conservative powers that be of this state - and if not that, they're going to back who ever can put the most advertising dollars in their pockets - and that's Michael Bennet and the DC/Wall Street power brokers that back him.

16. "So I don't want to hear it."
Well, when we don't listen we don't learn.

"Am I supposed to be swayed by an article from a self avowed Bennet supporter?" You were expecting agreement with your point of view?

Whatever.

20. MSS - he already has asked DSCC to help him WITHOUT the PAC money
if he gets past the primary - and it's been done before - with Barack Obama on his last presidential election.

21. My guess is that Romanoff's internal poll has him far ahead
of Bennet.

I can see 3-1 Romanoff signs to Bennet signs all over Denver and my recent trip to Tiny Town produced like, 10 Romanoff signs on my way to southern side of Morrison and none of Bennet's.

It does not help Bennet at all when he has a scandal that has been hanging above his head for the last 24 months, and his approval rating has been in the low 30s.
