Bristol Palin, Levi Johnston say they're engaged to be married
Source: Washington Post

NEW YORK -- Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston say they're engaged and hope to get married within six weeks in Alaska. Palin, the daughter of 2008 vice-presidential candidate and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, is featured on the cover of Us Weekly with Johnston, holding their 18-month-old son, Tripp.

Palin and Johnston tell the magazine they reconnected while working out a custody plan and became engaged two weeks ago.

Sarah Palin and her husband, Todd, said in a statement on NBC's "Today" show Tuesday that they want what's best for their children and that Bristol believes in "redemption and forgiveness." Representatives for Palin did not immediately return messages from The Associated Press seeking comment.

Johnston recently acknowledged telling lies about the Palin family after he and Bristol broke up last year. He says he's apologized.

38. I wish them well, too.
Afterall, look who will be the mother-in-law! Seriously, I don't care if this is a sincere attempt by Bristol and Levi to reunite or if this is a political ploy by Sarah Palin. (I don't think it is, but Sarah will use it to her advantage). See how Sarah has already put her spin on this.

Sarah has been quoted as saying "Bristol believes in redemption and forgiveness to a degree most of us struggle to put in practice in our daily lives.” Interesting how Sarah and the political right, including tea bag partiers, will see this as a magnamous gesture. Too bad that attitude doesn't exist toward all women, especially Hillary Clinton. Obviously, Hillary believed in redemption and forgiveness, too, to continue her marriage to Bill. However, she has been called a b*#!?, controlling woman, ball buster and more. Hmm. . . interesting how the right wing doesn't extend the belief of forgiveness to others, preferring name calling and ridicule of their opponents.

22. Good luck to Bristol, Levi, and Tripp
They seem to be nice kids -- whose lives have been seriously messed with by Mama Grizzly and Papa Tawdd.

A few weeks ago, Levi made a painfully self-debasing public apology to Sarah. Only two things could make a man humiliate himself like that: his love for his child(ren), or his love for a woman. Or, obviously, both. (Yes indeed -- "been there, done that".)

Sorry, but I just can't get much snark, contempt, or hate worked up against the new Johnston household. It's Sarah Palin whom I object to. So good luck to Mr. and (the future) Mrs. Levi Johnston, and young Master Tripp. With a nod to their siblings, too.

And may Sarah Palin's careers in politics and "mother-in-lawyering" lead to a properly fitting public crash and burn.

--d!

Kids do better with Daddy in the picture, and I hope that it works out for them.

I can't hate the kids, either.

No one picks his or her parents, and many of us end up with less than ideal family situations.

I wish Bristol, Levi and Tripp good luck.

support in whatever way the future unravels. They will talk about him as admiringly as if he had a masters degree in political science.

Sarah has now ensured that she has another tool in getting the votes of a major segment of the elderly teaparty members - "I'm just like all you grandmas and grandpas, whatda ya think bout that".

About divorce - I think we will hear about his playing around before we hear about a divorce - since most of the wealth of being a President is made after the presidency. Someone would have pointed that out to them.

Now, how does she handle all the scandals from 'their' governorship? 'Their' meaning she, plus Todd.

You got to get it while you can ! Don't those kids get it just as fast as they can.The thing of it is ,they just don't know anything at all about what they are getting or getting in to. Sooner or later the show boat will run aground.
And unlike Mark Twain ,Sarah;s show boat running aground will not be intentional.
I believe they use the phase amuck to be politically correct.

But, there will be a whole train of events and faithful followers that will end up in the same place covered in it.

73. I bet Sarah does her best to break them up
She hates being thwarted or being made to look like a fool when it comes to her family. She likes being the self appointed role model for perfect motherhood.

74. TORO TURD!
Johnston recently acknowledged telling lies about the Palin family after he and Bristol broke up last year. He says he's apologized.

And not only am I supposed to believe that there was no connection between the public apology and the engagement, I'm also supposed to believe that the kids told a magazine before their own family.

I could make bigger donations to DU if I didn't have to keep buying new bullshit meters.

78. You're also supposed to believe...
...that they aren't having sex until they are actually married, because of Bristol's "abstinence pledge."

Yeah!!! Don't be surprised if Bristol's pregnant again--that would explain why they want to have the wedding within six weeks!
