As I mentioned in a general discussion thread a week ago Sunday, the storm predicted by models has formed. It is forecast to travel in the general vicinity of the Central TX coast according to the forecast of the National Hurricane Center found here:
http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/graphics_at1+shtml/215913.shtml?5-daynl#contents

It is likely that this storm will move further west than that and hit MX but it is also possible it could hit further east and closer to the gulf relief efforts.

The affect on the relief efforts will be interesting to see.

CNN TV has had extensive coverage of this within the last half hour.

1. Don't forget the 2 hurricanes in the Pacific!
One was a Cat 5 y'know! Sure they move away from the Gulf and the continent into open waters, but it just shows it's that time again....big time.

3. This could be a very unpleasant summer for the Gulf coast.
I read where the gulf waters are much warmer than usual and that means that any storm that gets into the gulf will intensify rapidly...
I have the feeling that this will be a summer of sorrow.

5. It is already a 'summer of sorrows'.

9. Clearly it already is a very unpleasant summer for the Gulf coast.
And that's before any hurricanes.

4. "That, Mr. Anderson, is the sound... of inevitability"
seems applicable in this context... :(

7. Could it push the oil away from NO
and toward Houston? I think some Texas Congress critters could use an oil bath.

8. Not likely. And unless it tracks to the extreme right of the predicted...
...path, unlikely to have much effect on relief efforts at all.
