Elliot Spitzer Gets Primetime CNN Show
Source: CBS News

CNN announced today that former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer, who resigned from office following revelations that he had visited a prostitute, will be the host of a new primetime show on the network.

Spitzer, a Democrat, will appear in the 8:00 p.m. time-slot along with conservative columnist Kathleen Parker in a as-yet-unnamed show that sounds somewhat similar to CNN's former liberal-vs.-conservative program "Crossfire."

"Other cable news channels force-feed viewers one narrow, predictable point of view; in contrast, CNN will be offering a lively roundup of all the best ideas - presented by two of the most intelligent and outspoken figures in the country," CNN/U.S. president Jon Klein said in a statement. "Eliot and Kathleen are beholden to no vested interest - in fact, quite the opposite: they are renowned for taking on the most powerful targets and most important causes."

Parker, who describes herself as a "rational" conservative, wrote a column in 2008 calling for an "out of her league" Sarah Palin to remove herself from the Republican presidential ticket; she has won the Pulitzer Prize for Commentary for her syndicated columns.

5. What do you hate about him? Are you aware he was exposing the fraud
on Wall Street at the time he was nailed for the prostitution involvement?

I am not supporting his lifestyle choice at the time, he should have known better that when you are going after the biggest
and dirtiest crooks in politics and those on Wall Street, you had better be prepared to not leave yourself open to legal problems.

I don't agree with all his political opinions, but he was on to those bastards, and for that I am grateful.

18. there is not a guy here that has not made a
stoooooooooooooppiddd decision by letting his dick think (or negate rational thought that comes FROM thinking) for him. not one.

spitzer was onto wall street, and was working to do something about it.

he created his own hypocritical situation? certainly.

but i can handle his transgression. like i said, dick thinking gets you every time.

he is smart, can explain financials, and can help reign them in. if corporations aren't controlled, we have only just begun to see the down side of american free enterprise run amok. (the down side has been there all along, but we are getting to where the cumulative effect may be irreparable.)

i eagerly welcome him back into the political mix. i hope he ends up running for president.

14. Jail time for a victimless crime? What what what? Your gonna need to explain that philosophy
because at first glance it seems decidedly conservative. Liberal/progressive ideology holds the belief that we need to send less people to jail since the US is the number one jailer of it's own citizens in the world.

17. Jail time for a "victimless" crime that hurt no one (except his wife) AND that he paid........
..........for out of his own pocket? I'll tell ya what, there would be zillions more people in jail in this "jail em" country now if all of a sudden stupidity was a crime.

3. Leaving the obvious aside for a minute Spitzer never struck me as good on television.
I mean he is no Ed Koch.

4. It also sounds like 60 Minutes' old "Point-Counterpoint"
That segment, which also pitted a liberal against a conservative, was parodied on SNL by Jane Curtin and Dan Aykroyd hurling their signature insults at each other: "Jane, you ignorant slut!" "Dan, you pompous ass!"

6. I miss a Crossfire-like show
They can't keep re-running the 2008 Presidential election-type content format 24/7 forever.

9. I wonder if David Schuster is going to get a show (and Tamron Hall)....
.....over at CNN? Looks like they're trying to somewhat copy MSNBC. I sure as hell hope so. Would finally be nice to actually get MORE "fair & balanced" news instead of "infomercials" and propaganda. That's one reason I like LINK & FSTV. Even C-span (and Brian Lamb) has gotten more of a conservative slant, same with PBS since Bush fucked up that. Maybe people finally got tired of hearing the RW sounding more & more crazier and now, some of these fuckers have actually "launched" into outer space. We need reason back in the media at last. I hope CNN is changing.

16. I won't watch any show (or network) that elevates tea-bagger/right-wing stupidity...
...and places such backward ideologies on equal footing with enlightened, progressive, fact-based, common-good-centered thinking. Fuck CNN. I have been boycotting their ratings-whoring, dumbed-downed, 4th grade level nonsense for years. And shame on Spitzer for wallowing in such garbage for money; I thought he was better than that. CNN is the Jerry Springer of news and the other networks aren't much better. Screw them all. They won't earn a penny by me tuning in.
