(MI Gov.) Granholm calls on Congress to boost R&D funding for electric vehicles
Source: Detroit News

Gov. Jennifer Granholm said today the massive oil spill should prod Congress into doing more to speed the introduction of electric cars.

She said she hoped the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico would help spur a change in "human behavior" and move more Americans to buy vehicles powered by electricity.

...

She noted that the United States spends about $1 billion a day abroad to buy oil -- much of it "to countries that don't have our interests at heart."

The new energy bill needs "further co-investment in research and development," Granholm said. "If we as a nation don't invest in the research and development and help these companies to reach these solutions, then we are going to be reverting back to internal combustion engines."

1. Lying sack of shit Lamar Alexander said Repukes would be all for this
The pathological liar said after last night's speech that if the prez had made specific proposals like this, they would have passed the Senate with ease (just like all of his other proposals have, I guess).

:puke:
