Sharron Angle: Sen. Harry Reid 'waterboarded' economy
Edited on Mon Jun-14-10 12:04 PM by brooklynite
Source: Politico

Nevada GOP Senate nominee Sharron Angle said Monday that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has “waterboarded” the economy.

Speaking during an interview on “Fox & Friends,” Angle said that her powerful Democratic opponent has “truly failed,” especially when it comes to the economy.

“He has pretty much waterboarded our economy for the last year and a half,” Angle said, rattling off the state’s high unemployment and home foreclosure statistics.

Angle offered little other criticism of Reid’s actions on the economy, instead focusing most of her fire on the Nevada Democrat’s long career.

Gee, Sharron's saying that like Waterboarding's a bad thing. Has she not received her RNC talking points?

What a piece of work - just proof that it's okay to be an idiot, someone will vote for you.

What a stupid-assed metaphor she used. Is she trying to out-dumbass Palin?

5. Well, to the extent you can believe Rasmussen polls--the only ones
available right now, they had the loon leading Reid 50% to 39, so I don't think it is time to become complacent...The chicken lady may have lost but there appear to be quite a few of her moronic followers out there ready to vote for Angle.

18. Rasmussen Polls - the best poll "results" that money can buy - a story of bias, manipulation, fraud

Nate Silver, FiveThirtyEight.com, April 17, 2010

The bottom line is this: the sample included in Rasmussen's polling is increasingly out of balance with that observed by almost all other pollsters. This appears to create a substantial house effect, irrespective of whether Rasmussen subsequently applies a likely voter screen.

It also appears to be a relatively new facet of their polling. If one looks at the partisan identification among all adults in polls conducted in September-November 2008, Rasmussen gave the Democrats at 6.5-point edge, versus an average of 8.7 points for the other pollsters; their house effect was marginal if there was one at all.

Techniques like weighting can correct for some of this response bias, but it can be an imperfect defense, particularly for pollsters like Rasmussen who have very low response rates (because of their "flash" one-night samples and their use of IVR technology).

If, on the other hand, this is a feature rather than a bug, it requires a more robust explanation from Rasmussen. It is not sufficient, after all, to believe that Rasmussen is getting it right: you also have to believe that almost everyone else is getting it wrong.

Their use of a likely voter model alone is not sufficient to explain the differences. Citing Rasmussen's success in calling past election outcomes, which is formidable, is also somewhat non-responsive, since their house effect was not so substantial in past election cycles.

6. That doesn't make any sense.
So Harry Reid strapped the economy to a table and poured water on it? She's just plugging in words that sound bad but make no logical sense in the context she uses them in.

7. Waterboarding's bad again?
Goodness, hard to keep up with the Republicans. And now from the Senate Majority Leader position, Harry Reid controls the American economy. In Ms. Angle's world, that is. But she will no doubt lick the economy into shape in no time if she's elected. Just don't ask her for too many specifics. It's a sekrit.

16. that is what I was thinking...
they embrace the idea of doublethink- they can hold two diametrically opposed ideas in their head at the same time and not even see it. They just call up the "proper" idea at the "proper" time
