Daniel Pelosi, the electrician from Manorville, surrendered in Suffolk County Criminal in Riverhead this morning and was charged with the 2001 murder of millionaire Theodore Ammon in East Hampton.
Pelosi, 40, was charged with one count of second-degree murder and ordered held without bail by State Supreme Court Justice Robert Doyle.
In requesting that no bail be set for Pelosi, Assistant District Attorney Janet Albertson noted the vicious nature of the murder inside Ammon's second floor bedroom. Ammon was struck with a Taser gun and beaten more than 30 times in the head with a blunt object, she said. Pelosi, Albertson said, had both the motive and opportunity to commit the crime, including access to a laptop computer that controlled the estate's security system.
Albertson also suggested that if Pelosi were released on bail, he would be likely to flee
