Protesters crash Karl Rove book-signing in Cool Springs

FRANKLIN — Protesters crashed a Karl Rove book-signing event at the Borders in Cool Springs.

Rove, senior advisor to former president George W. Bush, was signing copies of his new book Courage and Consequence when a woman in a flowered blouse who stood in line for an autograph pulled handcuffs out of a bag, laid them on a podium and told Rove he was under arrest for “war crimes.”

Another woman popped up from behind a bookshelf holding a pink sign that read “Jail Karl Rove” and a pair of men unrolled a banner that said “Jail Karl Rove for war crimes.”

Rove handled the situation calmly, stepping out of the way while a security guard and a Franklin Police officer escorted the protesters out of the store. One of the protesters was placed in handcuffs and put in the back of a police car after sitting down in front of Borders.

Jane Steinfels Hussain, the woman who presented Rove with handcuffs said she was with Code Pink and the Nashville Peace Coalition, groups that oppose the war in Iraq.

11. That's a great idea. Just knowing the fund is out there
would annoy him.

7. I'm afraid if I came face to face
with karl, I'd smack him leaving my hand print on his face permanently. Of course, that's assault and I do not look good in orange. lol. Best I stay away from him and his silly book of lies.

12. Oh...
does assault involve a weapon? Is battery a felony? All I know is orange is NOT my color.

What if I put make-up on my hand and said I was simply trying to give a 'good look?'

15. Assault is the act of TRYING to strike someone...
...it becomes battery once your attempt is successful.

16. I Did - I Started Shaking
I was at the airport waiting for my son and a pair of doors open - it's Karl Rove, his cute college student son, and the guy picking them up. I immediately started to shake and my mind was racing as to what to do.

so I called a friend, but no answer.

He was putting the luggage in the trunk and I decide to get out of my car - and say something, but what? There was also the "cute-son" factor. But fate stepped in and by the time I got to the car with Karl Rove in it, they sped off.

A DU'er later said, you mean you didn't hit the gas pedal?

I probably should have and plead "ooops"
