Dead pelican found coated with oil from Gulf spill

A Coast Guard member carries a dead oil-covered pelican that was found on North Breton Island on Thursday.

Managers of a renowned bird sanctuary in the Gulf of Mexico say they have found their first dead pelican in the wake of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

Breton National Wildlife Refuge, about eight miles from the Louisiana coast, had been fortunate so far in avoiding the worst of the Gulf oil spill.

But on Thursday morning, workers found a young brown pelican on a sand spit with its neck and one wing matted in oil.

2. I'm sorry that humans are so insensitive to wildlife.

That young Pelican never had a chance. BP must pay for this mess! They lied to get permits, and they took short cuts to save money that were too risky.

If BP is put out of business, if every asset is sold, if its executives lose EVERYTHING, they must spend every penny they can put their hands on to clean up this mess they've created.

12. As an animal lover, altho it would be hard to do, if I had it within my power,

I would use all the dead sea life and birds and arrange them
as letters on the beach to form the
words:  FUCK YOU BP or BP END THE COVER-UP OR BP HAS NO SOUL
or STILL SUPPORT
DE-REGULATION AND THE FREE MARKET?  Maybe in some small way
these blessed beings could make some impact.
