New home sales, orders for most durable goods rise
Source: Associated Press

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Sales of new homes took the biggest monthly jump in 47 years in March, while orders for most large manufactured products rose by the largest amount since the recession started.

The two reports were a sign that the recovery is picking up speed, and some economists are raising their estimates for U.S. economic growth this year.

"The recovery has been proceeding at a more rapid pace than we thought," said Zach Pandl, economist with Nomura Securities in New York.

Factories are benefiting from a sharp increase in orders from U.S. and foreign businesses. But the housing market's fuel is coming from a less sustainable source: government subsidies. Some analysts predict demand for homes will fall again over the summer, preventing the beleaguered sector from adding much to the economic recovery.

1. I think Biden knew this was coming
and that's why he was saying that job creation is gonna greatly increase over the next few months.

2. "Damn The Facts"
Lets just talk about some ultra-right wing agenda, a group of homegrown terrorists, or further the insanity of the "birther" movement. (Sarcasm to the point of vomitting) What is wrong with the MSM these days? Are they all trying to parrot fixed noise in a thinly veiled attempt to garner ratings, or have they just flat out given up on reporting fairly and accurately the news of the current day? It is a crying shame to have to rely on the internet for anything resembling the truth these days.

4. Actually neither report is that good when you read the actual numbers

So the same MSM is kind of giving an assist here.

Biden is being politically and personally irresponsible saying 500,000 jobs a month as a projection.

He does no one any favors saying that.

This month, looking at claims data, they are going back to negative territory unless the last week of April wipes out the first 3 weeks.

3. Hack writing

http://www.census.gov/manufacturing/m3/adv/pdf/durgd.pdf

New Orders are 1.3% down and shipments are 1.2% up. Orders tell the future, shipments tell the past.

Housing report had an increase in inventory supply but no change in average time for sale from February to March.

Expiring tax credit in April, see if there is a subsequent drop in May Sales. March and April numbers will be skewed by a demand forward program.

This article includes a lot of bullshit and anecdotes that have nothing to do with either report. I hope the writers of the article didn't get degrees to write such fucking nonsense.
