Aruban divers to inspect site where couple says they saw human remains (Natalee Holloway?)

CNN's Tracy Sabo and Philip Rosenbaum contributed to this report.

(CNN) -- An Aruban police dive team will search the site where an underwater photograph was taken that might show human remains, a spokeswoman for the Aruban prosecutor said Saturday.

The picture has renewed interest in the nearly 5-year-old Natalee Holloway case.

Officials first heard of the picture, taken in October by a vacationing American couple, on Thursday, Ann Angela, a spokeswoman for Aruban prosecutor Peter Blanken, said

"We have received the picture, and the diving team of the Aruban police will start doing preliminary work at the spot where we believe it was taken," Angela told CNN.

The owner of this photograph says she detected human remains in the shot three months after it was taken.

1. Tragic that the young woman (apparently) died. It was a tragedy . . .
for her family and those who knew and loved her. However, since that time, some 250 million people have died, many in grotesquely awful ways as bad or worse than how she probably died.

Can we get some perspective here?

some "exotic" friends of Juran were involved in at least the cover up.

Seems to me, any amount of ginning this one up is totally warranted.

14. But she's a white girl from the American deep South, right?
And she died on an island full of black people. So of course this is top news for Faux, the US network. Aruba, by the way, is where we go to relax to get away from the crime in Venezuela. It's a very peaceful place.

They can't possibly dwell on the new health care thingie.

9. I'm sorry but if I were....
...convinced who had done this to my daughter, and was also convinced that the Aruban authorities were never going to do anything about it, that young Dutchman would be also be a 'dead' man. I couldn't live with myself if I didn't. And furthermore, since it's clear that his parents helped him cover it up, I'd have to see to it that they paid some price for that too....but all that's just me.

11. 3 guys
A 17, 18 and 20 year old disposed of a body on the fly. No trace evidence whatsoever left behind. Two got through a month of jail/interrogation and Joran made it through 3 months of jail/interrogations (from investigators from two countries) without giving up enough for reasonable cause for prosecution. Pretty good for amateurs. I think the one kid is a video store clerk to this day.

All the crap about overdosing/rufies and disposing of the body came from the U.S. media. Not one shred of evidence to support it. The whole story doesn't make sense. A kid whose date OD's either calls for medical help or runs away. He doesn't dispose of the body. And a lawyer father doesn't help him dispose of the body. It was all hype.

13. Exactly
It's one thing to say "I'm gonna keep my mouth shut" and another thing to actually do it under those circumstances. I just don't see three guys that age keeping their stories straight to protect just one of them.

Joran has proven himself to be borderline sociopathic in his perpetual lying but more along the lines of what I would call a "bullshitter" (saying stuff you think builds you up and makes a good story). I don't like the kid but I think he is acting out rather than guilty.

drug dealing abuser. Probably, to get some street-cred or some free pot.

9 Dec 2009 Oranjestad - Patrick van der Eem (the guy on the confession tape) is to appear in court next Thursday.
Van der Eem was arrested in August and brought before the judge-commisioner.
He was arrested for cocaine possession and threat. It is especially the threat that the Justice department takes very seriously and
therefore wanted to take more time for an investigation. Van der Eem allegedly threatened an employee of the Radisson Hotel where
he stayed, with death. He was arrested in his hotel room by the police. Van der Eem is known for his contribution
to the television broadcast of Peter R. de Vries, crime reporter on the Holloway case, the disappearance of the American girl Natalee Holloway
in Aruba. Furthermore, he already has been involved in a drug case. Allegedly the scar he has on the left side of his face he sustained
for his role in that drug case. Van der Eem was also shortly arrested in December 2008 after pressed charges of abuse of his girlfriend.

I don't want to belabor the point but I was stuck in the house for about 2 months around the time she disappeared and watched a lot of the early coverage. There has never been any evidence against these guys. None. It was Natalee's mother that jumped on the drugged gang rape idea. Whose mom would make up such a horrible scenario out of whole-cloth? She not only made it up but started stating it as fact. And the media dutifully repeated it. Over and over again.

Then we can finally put this story to rest. (I said all along that her body was at the bottom of the ocean.)
