El gobierno haitiano cree que se confirmará una cifra de 150 mil muertos por el seísmo antes de la noche del domingo, según declaró hoy la ministra de Comunicación, Marie Laurence Lassec.

Sin embargo, la ministra negó que su gobierno haya dado por finalizadas las operaciones de rescate, y señaló que equipos mexicanos y dominicanos continúan al menos durante la jornada de hoy la búsqueda de posibles supervivientes, cuando se cumplen once días del devastador terremoto.

The government of Haiti expects to confirm 150,000 dead due to the earthquake before Sunday night, as was said today by communications minister Marie Laurence Lassec.

Nevertheless, the minister denied that her government has suspended search and rescue operations and said that Mexican and Dominican teams will continue at least for today the search and rescue of survivors, at eleven days from the devastating earthquake.

1. Uprecedented yes...
but there have been unprecedented numbers of survivors this long out--particularly among the very young and very old, who would be least expected to survive as much as 10-11 days trapped in the warm temperatures.

I hope that we will take time to reassess our current recommendations for S&R duration, based on this episode.

2. Oh someobdy is right now rewriting the book
all disasters have a lessons learned.

The after action will have some interesting things

Though there is another detail... the number of teams. Mexico alone sent ten. Compare this to Mexico City quake where Mexico had none.
