Source: bbc

Honduras' President-elect Porfirio Lobo has offered the country's ousted leader Manuel Zelaya safe passage to the Dominican Republic.

The deal was agreed by Mr Lobo and Dominican President Leonel Fernandez in Santo Domingo, officials say.

Under the agreement, Mr Zelaya would go to the Dominican Republic after Mr Lobo took office on 27 January.

1. So, basically, they're offering to re-deport Zelaya. It's still unconstitutional

5. They are not demanding he be turned over either
He is facing serious charges in Honduras (not commenting if they are valid or not)

6. All these "charges" were filed after he had been deported by the military. It is an
Alice-in-Wonderland approach to criminal law. Here's an article actually listing the charges:

Honduras: Los 18 delitos de Manuel Zelaya
El fiscal general adjunto Roy Urtecho ofreció una conferencia de prensa, donde explicó la situación legal del ex presidente y la orden de captura emitida por los tribunales de justicia

It is a delightful little list:

9. He did not send the General Budget to Congress in a timely manner ...
11. He described decisions of prosecutors and the judiciary as political ...
17. He publicly exhibited a child who had H1N1 influenza ...

7. Like I said, I wasn't commenting on the charges
It may be the best offer he will see for a while. Also we may be able to communicate much more easily with the outside world and his supporters.

8. You repeatedly describe the charges as "serious." Some look entirely frivolous to me

2. What's the man's legal status there anyway? Isn't he a common citizen...
...after the elected (sic) President (sic) gets seated?

3. Does the deal include his CROWN and a severance package for his bodyguard(s) staff?!1
Those "bodyguards" (crown-holders) whose crown-holding duties didn't allow for much looking around for potential attackers?!1

Well, you've seen my pics many times before and will many times again, and I yours.

But just to state the obvious, Shrub has no claim on me. My criticism of *your* idols has nothing in it to support your insinuation that I support wingnuts.

But, as you know, I'm very attuned to all the rhetorical techniques!1 LUVya!1
