UN condemns political violence in Bolivian electoral campaign

LA PAZ, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- The United Nations (UN) office in La Paz condemned on Friday last week's violence in the electoral campaign in Bolivia.

Yoriko Yasukawa, the UN representative to Bolivia, expressed his concern over the violence against followers of Bolivian President Evo Morales in Santa Cruz city, east of the country.

Yasukawa urged all political organizations in Bolivia and the people to allow the electoral process to evolve in a climate of respect and democracy.

"Violence is never consistent with the value of a democratic system neither in Bolivia nor in other parts of the world," said Yasukawa.
