New Bush Rules Could Increase Pollution by 1.6 Million Tons: study
WASHINGTON, July 29 /U.S. Newswire/

A study released today shows that the new rule issued by the Environmental Protection Agency to alter the Clean Air Act's "New Source Review" permit requirements could allow nearly 1.6 million more tons of air pollution in 12 key states. The report, entitled "Reform or Rollback? How EPA's Changes to New Source Review Affect Air Pollution in 12 States," was sponsored by the Environmental Integrity Project and the Council of State Governments/Eastern Regional Conference (CSG/ERC). ---

-- Total emissions of five pollutants -- sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxide, carbon monoxide, smog-forming volatile organic compounds, and particulate matter -- could increase by nearly 1.6 million tons a year from 1,282 plants. In some states, emissions could increase by more than 50 percent above 1999 levels. ---

this is once again corporate interests and short term profits taking precedence over the future of the world, our children, and our generations to come.

These people have black hearts.

2. I guess that big nasty cloud of pollution will return to cover Detroit
The way it did in the 70s, before all the polluters-pay laws were passed. It was awful-we would drive in from GR to visit family, and it was visible(and smelly) as far away as Novi.

4. Wow, this is pretty
fuckin disgusting. I have no hope for the future anymore. Why bother having kids and raising them in those type of conditions.
I wonder if CA is a one of the states to be affected. No doubt, Los Angeles would become more polluted than it is right now.
