Kuwait Agrees to Export Iraqi Oil
Kuwait has agreed to export Iraqi oil from its ports and is considering a deal to import natural gas from Iraq, a senior official said Sunday.

This oil deal would be the first of its kind between the neighbors since the fall of former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein, who invaded Kuwait and occupied it for seven months until it was liberated in the 1991 Gulf War.

Separately, the Kuwait Petroleum Corp. will start supplying Iraq with 3.6 million liters of gasoline a day in July.

He did not say if KPC will be replacing Kuwaiti private firm Altanmia Marketing Co. in supplying a Halliburton subsidiary, Kellogg Brown & Root, with oil for Iraq.

5. But, this way they wouldn't have to angle drill across the border.
Not that we wouldn't be concerned about "border disputes." (/sarcasm)

7. Interesting bits.
Sounds like they're going to build more export terminals.
Maybe they are giving up on the pipelines (for now anyway).

Again, we have Kuwait shipping fuel to Iraq (like Israel).
This is ludicrous.

In the first phase of the project, Kuwait would import some
35,000 cubic feet of gas a day. The quantity will increase in the
second phase to reach 200 million cubic feet a day, according to
al-Aoun.

Nothing like your basic 600000% increase in the second phase.

Being constructed from Iraq-Kuwait, as reported on Popular Mechanics. Here's the link; decide for yourself.

9. Well, I've seen that, but I had assumed it was supposed to

connect to the Saudi Arabian pipe, which last I heard the
Saudi's were refusing to let them use, politely of course.

In any case, the idea of shipping out of Kuwait via new terminals
is new (to me anyway), and the idea of selling Kuwait natural gas
is, umm, odd.

The notion that this is "secret" is only in the sense that
Fox News isn't going to cover it.
