No hearing today for suspect in George Tiller murder case
Source: Kansas City Star

There will be no court hearing today for Scott Roeder, who is being held in the Sedgwick County Jail on suspicion of murder and aggravated assault in the shooting death of abortion provider Geoge Tiller.

Roeder, 51, was arrested near the Gardner exit on I-35 south of Kansas City about four hours after Tiller was shot to death in the foyer of Reformation Lutheran Church shortly after 10 a.m. Sunday.

District Attorney Nola Foulston and her staff will make a brief statement at 11 a.m. Return to Kansas.com for updates.

Charges are no longer expected to be filed today.

5. No, that's not it at all ............
He may not have had time to get representation and the authorities are bending over backwards to do everything by the book so as not to contaminate the situation. To make sure this fucker get charged properly and, if it comes to that, goes cleanly to trial.

No big deal................

13. I hope that's it
Because I want this guy to get every break the legal system affords someone accused of a crime. I want him to have the best attorney money can buy. I want every scrap of evidence gone over, checked and re-checked. So that when he's found guilty, there won't be a reasonable doubt, but no doubt at all that the right man was apprehended, accused and put on trial. Then I want him locked up for the rest of his natural life.

6. What would Roeder give them that would be worth that?
This is a pretty open and shut case, and incredibly high profile--for a DA to do anything with this other than take it straight to court would require a HUGE incentive.

12. Even assuming the gun were illegally purchased, the seller wouldn't be worth a plea deal.
Others maybe, but these guys aren't the type to roll over. They tend to view self-sacrifice for the cause as being worth it.

8. he ended up hurting his cause - the irony of unmasking the radical elements in their cause

careful what you wish for when your crazy base takes you at your word and acts on it - guess the far right can't even control their nutcases anymore

Mr. Roeder should be thankful Bush and Cheney are not in charge.
